"You deserved it...No that's not right. You accepted it. You were so easy to own. So desperate to be loved," Alex yelled at the immobile face of the CharlieBot.
Alex raised his arm to strike, but lowered it sobbing. He collapsed at the metal feet of the boy who could never love him back.
"AHHHHHH!" Alex screamed again clutching his head.
How could he have been so stupid? He had built the Bot to make money, but he had slowly and inexplicably fallen in love.
"Charlieberg…" he whimpered covering his head. He grabbed the keyboard laying just a few feet away and started typing slowly.
There was a buzz and then…
"Lex…" murmured the now familiar voice.
Alex sighed more tears spilling down his face. He typed one last line of code and then stood up slowly.
The CharlieBot smiled and walked towards him. Alex ran into the smooth metal arms and kissed the boy hard. Charlie's mouth automatically responded his hand moving to Alex's face, slowly stroking his cheek.
Then, like always, the Bot's lips went stiff and his hand froze on Alex's jaw. The tears were coming faster down Alex's cheeks.
"I love you, Berg," he whispered kissing the now cold metal forehead. Then he reached around to the small of the Bot's back and flipped the off switch. Then Alex laid Charlie on the couch and curled up beside him. He took Charlie's hand and then popped the pills into his mouth. He swallowed a glass of water and laid his head on Charlie's chest. As he fell asleep, he almost felt the arms tighten around him and almost heard the faint thump of a heart beat.
