Alex:
Alex hurt. He really hurt. He had woken up two hours ago in a cement block cell and he still hurt inside and out and his mind was still running in circles.
Tom had made him remember something he had almost forgotten. More like had tried to forget.
Alex rolled over moaning his back felt like one big bruise were they had kicked him: Tom had laughed as his guards had kicked him, "Can you believe I dated this pathetic piece of shit?" Then his guards had laughed harder and continued to beat Alex.
The memory hurt worse than the kicks had. Alex had been lonely and desperate and Tom had picked him up. They had dated for two weeks and then Alex had ended it. Alex still remembered the look on Tom's face when he had said, "I'm sorry Tom. It's over. I love someone else and I'm not being fair to you by dating you. I'm so sorry." There had been hurt in Tom's face and sadness but also a burning anger.
How could Alex have known that Tom would turn out a crazy dictator?
Alex knew their relationship had been going nowhere because they were both in love with someone else (though he had not known it was the same someone else) but Tom had taken it hard.
'Maybe Tom loved you,' his treacherous mind whispered. Alex pushed the thought and the accompanying butterflies away with disgust. He had Charlie now. Tom's anger stemmed from jealousy…right...
Alex's thoughts turned to Charlie and panicked. Michael…no he wouldn't hurt Charlie…
'But he hurt you. What's stopping him?' his brain said reasonably. Alex was consumed by anger. No one would hurt his Charlie. He would just have to find a way out. The sickening whirl of his brain settled as he started to plan.
Edd:
Edd's hands were shaking as he walked down the hall to the council room. He had a plan to end this, to end Tom…
Edd sat down at his usual spot and watched Michael try to sit next to Liam. Liam got up and moved so he was next Edd with a stony expression.
'Michael just needs to give up,' Edd thought.
Ten minutes later everyone was sitting down and looking at Edd who cleared his throat, "So here's the basic plan: I'm going to turn myself in to Tom." There was a murmur but John nodded and Edd continued, "I'm going to tell him about this location, he is going to send all his guards out to deal with this, and then Charlie, Liam and Michael can get in. From what Michael told us Tom will stay behind and so we'll have a shot…" Everyone was nodding, "John can you get the most important stuff out of here in 24 hours?"
Liam:
The meeting ended on a high note as everyone rushed out to get ready. Liam wandered away. In a couple hours he and Charlie and Michael…
He couldn't finish the thought, Michael…
His heart hurt and his face was still dry from crying. He went to his room to get his goggles and flashlight, but there was someone outside.
The multi-colored haired boy's eyes were red and he looked at Liam sadly. Liam couldn't do this now but the boy grabbed his hand, "Michael, don't."
"Liam, please listen to me," tears filled Michael's eyes that made Liam's heart melt a little, "I'm so sorry. He said he would kill me and I was so scared. But now I realize I'm better off dead than without you. Please forgive me."
Liam was frozen. He knew he still loved Michael, but could he ever trust him again?
"Michael…How could you turn in Alex?" Liam asked buying time.
"Tom ordered me to. He hates Alex. I couldn't give him a fake trail. He wanted Alex. Wanted to break him," Michael shivered causing Liam's heart to give in just a fraction more.
Liam threw caution to the wind squeezing Michael's hand in sympathy. Michael looked up with so much hope that Liam gave up. He drew Michael to him pressing their lips together.
"We'll work it out, love," Liam whispered pulling back.
Michael nodded speechless eyes filling again. They walked to where they were supposed to meet Charlie arms around each other.
