Alex:
The boy watched as Tom died in Ed's arms. He watched as Ed screamed. He watched. Charlie sobbed into his shoulder. His mind was numb.
Everything they had been fighting for was lying on the floor dead, his blue hair framing his face perfectly.
'Why is my face wet?' thought Alex numbly.
Alex cried silently for his former friend.
Michael was the first to move. He went to Ed and began to whisper in the boy's ear trying to pry Ed away from the dead boy. Liam followed his boyfriend laying an arm around Ed's shoulder and removing Ed's hands from the electric blue hair. Charlie unwound Alex's arms and went join them rubbing Ed's arm and lifting the dead boy from his lap. But Alex couldn't….
He felt so weak.
Then a noise attracted his attention. The door was filled with guards.
'Of course,' thought Alex tiredly.
Alex turned away from his knot of friends and approached the guards.
"Surrender," he said in a ringing voice tears still running down his face.
The captain of the guards approached him carefully staring at the crying man.
"Sir," he addressed Alex slowly, "Thank you for saving us."
Many of the guards behind him were nodding, but one yelled, "Traitors!"
The captain of the guard turned to them, "Fools," he spat.
The dissenters were silent.
The captain turned back, "Thank you. He killed my wife," he said simply.
Alex nodded still shocked.
"I'm to take it you are Alex Day?"
Alex nodded again.
"What do the Nerdfighters want us to do?"
Alex found his voice, "Go home. There will be a funeral in two days and we will send out a message."
"DFTBA, sir," was all the captain said before turning and walking out.
His men followed him like obedient children.
Ed:
Ed was sitting in his room the day after the funeral.
The dictator's coffin had been shrouded in blue. All Tom's friends were there. It hurt. Ed was there but all he could remember was the blood on his hands.
The world was beginning to rearrange itself. Governments were setting themselves back up with the help of the Nerdfighters and peace was slowly restored.
Ed was in pain. It hurt him. He had no one. His friends were sympathetic but they were not guilty of murder.
Charlie slowly opened the door. Ed felt another slash of pain as he saw Charlie's left hand with the simple silver band. Alex had asked Charlie to marry him the day before and Ed hadn't been able to watch.
"Ed?" said Charlie gently, "It's time to make the video."
Ed grunted and got up to make the last video that the Nerdfighters would ever make together as an organization.
He walked into the bright room were he was greeted by smiling faces. Alex ran to grab Charlie's hand and Liam was sitting on Michael's lap. John and Hank were fiddling with a video camera in the corner.
Everyone got into position.
The red light went on.
"Hello," John began, "We are really proud of how the world has settled down in the last couple of days. The Nerdfighters will continue to help however we can."
John nodded to Hank who explained the set up of the UN and the reinstatement of Facebook.
Ed was almost crying when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Michael was comforting him while all the others smiled.
Ed felt a sudden rush of love for his friends.
'Maybe it will be okay,' he thought as John nodded to everyone.
"Just this once, everybody lives. DFTBA," they ended the video together.
'Even Tom,' thought Ed smiling for the first time in a week.
