Teachers from Pangaea University go to the stomping grounds after a day's work to walk and talk and tread on the tiny beings camping there.

Sort of both! There was a lot of back and forth discussion with the commissioner about how they could look. And they also attended a live stream session where I worked on the drawing, and they suggested some extra details.
