Merrimack Corp reprint of a design by
Ottmar Zieher, Munich
Coat-of-Arms with King Edward VII postage stamps and a map inset showing the location of the Straights Settlements.
The key plate design are the older stamps and the oval plate is the later design.
Once colonies of the British Crown, today most of the Straights Settlements are part of Malaysia and Singapore, while Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands were transferred to Australia.
About the publishers:
Ottmar Zieher was a postcard publisher based in Munich, (Bavaria) Germany. Between 1897 to 1908 the firm published books and pioneered in international chromolithographic view postcards. From 1902 to 1905 Ottmar Zieher produced several hundred post cards depicting the various nations coats-of-arms and contemporary postage stamps.
Their cards are now in the public domain many are still copied today.
