Super!! I just have two questions:
1- how does multiply layer work?
2 - referred to the last two steps: you mean that you usually paint monotone, like blue, and then how do you turn it into colors?
Sorry for the questions, they sounds stupid.. but there's still a huge potential of Clip studio that I don't know how to use

This tutorial was done in "easy painttool sai" , which I don't use anymore for quite a while.
No your questions don't sound stupid at all, don't worry!
1. If you put a layer on multiply mode, it multiplies the color on it to the layer underneath it.
2. you can do both ways, but this is a thing everyone has to test out for onesself.
it is possible to paint in grayscale and put colors with layers and layermodi above it.
In this tutorial I meant, that I use one layer to shade and not many
