Seeing the sad state of affairs in the underground, the player/aliza decides to help the underground. But in order to do so, Aliza has to convince Sans to cooperate with Undyne. Understandably, this was almost impossible under normal circumstances. As soon as Aliza asked Sans about it, he refused and killed them. So the Player had to resort to another method. The Player changed Sans code to make him agree. So Sans could cooperate with Undyne, but she refused and the game crashed because Sans would never even offer to cooperate with her, he was doing something he shouldn't have been doing, but those who were doing it were Aliza/the Player. So the game gave sans the same soul which made such a soul mix with sans soul and the game became even more broken, sans got a split personality one part is his classic self and the other this part that wants to cooperate and is more friendly. Sans also takes control of the timeline.
