Made a few One Piece oc's. This is one of them, Calypso.

Background for her is as follows:

Several centuries ago, a lonely sea witch was discovered by villagers on an unnamed island. She had isolated herself due to her eating a Devil Fruit, but she was lonely and desiring companionship. While she was kind towards them, they feared her and her abilities, resulting in her being slain by them. As she died, the sea waters turning red with her blood, it is said she cursed the village, and claimed she would return to the world one more. Shortly after her death, an illness swept through the village and it was led to be believed that she had been the cause of it. So whenever any child was born or the facial marks that were the same as the Sea Witch they were murdered. This continued until Calypso was born. When she was discovered to have the birthmarks under her eyes, her mother committed suicide and her father ran away into the forest, leaving her fate in the hands of the elderly midwife. Pitying the girl, but knowing she had no choice, she left the newborn at the opening of the underground caverns of the island, to either die by the rising tide or starve.

Neither would happen however.
Instead the newborn would be found by a reclusive hermit and raised by him. For several years, she was raised by the hermit learning from him and was told by him to stay in the cave during the day and to never approach any other humans. She obeyed and only went outside the caverns at night, playing and searching for fruit and roots to eat. One night however, several fisherman spotted her and realizing who she was attempted to kill her. The hermit managed to intervene and was able end the fisherman but was killed as the result. She hid in the caverns, terrified and grieving the loss of her only parental figure. She remained in the caverns coming close to starving. There she came across a strange fruit. Starving, she ate it, hating the taste of it. As it would turn out, that would be a Devil Fruit known as the Rei Rei no Mi (Spirit Spirit Devil Fruit), a parmecia type devil fruit and was the same fruit the sea witch had consumed centuries ago. Moments after consuming the fruit more fisherman found her and attempted to kill her again.

Again she was saved.

However this time it was the soul of the witch and those murdered for harboring the same marks as the long dead woman, returning to protect the reincarnated sea witch. It is unknown what happened to the fisherman that day, only that she emerged from the caverns and left in a now abandoned fisherman boat, never to return to her island. She would continue to travel around the sea, training and learning secrets of her fruit and how to use it to heal, though feeling lost in the seas currents.

Until a certain freckled-face rookie pirate and his crew crossed her way and her journey took a different and drastic change in direction.
