Hey, nice! It's been a while since I last saw Miku drawing that isn't porn!
...Well, actually, I saw this picture a long time ago, but didn't write a review of it until now due to lack of time and motivation. I've seen some more SFW Miku fan art since then, but those were my thoughts back when I first saw it, so they still count!
VISION: Nothing short of gorgeous. I really dig the unsaturated colors and subtle effects you added! I'll elaborate on those in a bit. You also pulled off the cutesy chibi style pretty well, but even for chibi standards, I feel the head looks a little too big.
I feel you really tried to avoid drawings hands at all costs, given how Miku's twin tails overlap them, even when they shouldn't. Not that it's that big of a deal, anyway.
ORIGINALITY: A good chunk of the art community seems to have warm and pastel as their palettes of choice for chibi illustrations. In this case, however, I feel the colors employed are 'cooler', and somewhat washed out. And they look great! Especially on Miku, as her color palette blends naturally well with cool tones. This along with some other details really aid this piece at standing out from the rest for me. I'll address those in the 'Technique' section below.
TECHNIQUE: Pretty good! The 3D-like after-images make the character neatly 'pop' from the background. That's a clever way of using it! Combined with the distortion effect, it also helps create a faint vintage vibe.
The smooth, near-professional linework and detail and solid shading, accompanied by seamless color transitions remind me of those pretty anime promo posters that get released at the launch of a series.
I do think, however, that leaving the foreground with no texture at all would have been better to make it stand out; sometimes less is more.
IMPACT: Every time I look at this image, I feel so calm and refreshed. Nowadays it's kinda hard for a chibi drawing of all things to evoke such emotions in me, given how I tend to dislike ultra-moesy stuff.
I think this illustration goes well with colate's Heart Groove's funky and energetic, yet relaxing vibes.
Aaand I think we're done here. All in all, great job!
