Description
An Arachne-Manticutie for Icymasamune‘s Nexus setting. Loom’s hair is literally going to change every time I draw it because I can’t settle on a good one for her. So it’ll just be her thing. Maybe it’s part of her manticore protean abilities, idk.
She actually only has four/two sets of permanent eyes, the ones that are in the place where a normal human has them, and the ones on her cheeks, which are usually covered by a thin layer of skin that still lets the pink show through (giving her a perma-rosy look to her cheeks). She has the ability (thanks to her manticore heritage) to make working eyes materialize/appear/form anywhere on her body. The eyes are always either pink or white or any variation in-between. Her pupils function like a cat’s/manticore’s and they can expand to cover the entire lens.
Loom’s feet are grabby-grabby monkey hand feetses. Her spinneret is located at the end of her tail, on the top of it right before the spinal cord/tail turns into the bone that makes up the stinger. Her stinger sac is full of venom, and she’s never had any occasion to use it yet, In order to not sting herself or anyone else by accident, she usually has a white cap on the end of her stinger that is largely unnoticeable.
Loom’s abilities are fairly unique. She weaves/knits/crochets/sews what she calls “aether bombs”. Essentially, the weaving patterns she uses programs specific uses into the aether-charged silk. It can be as simple as dispersing a magical fog or darkness over an area, to something as utterly complex as a realistic “holographic” construct like a person, which can then be given commands. These aether bombs can be single use (destroyed upon use) or hold “charges” and can be recharged with aether either via alchemy or direct from a user. She’s very secretive about her methods and her patterns and only sells a product once she’s perfected it and is sure it has no programming issues. Adventurers can get a discount on her items if they become betatesters for her practical tests.
She loves her tea time and her work is her hobby/passion, so she’s a pretty content small-business owner without many wants in her life.
