Description
Calir looked at Kelvin attentively. The half dragon offered a hand in an upcoming trial. Holding on to the thought, the medic pondered for a second.
"I am curious, if you're able to transform parts of you without switching between states fully" the medic's eyes rested upon Kelvin's arms, as he added. "For example, can you try and transform one of your hands into the scaled version?"
[...]
"I am pretty sure I can." the half dragon replied hesitantly. There seemed to be more than one time he remembered doing so, but any previous one had been instinctual. The taller man's arm flexed. He tried to prompt the undefined force to awaken. It didn't seem like that made much of a difference, but his focus did. That gentile tingle began to fill his arm; like a poorly placed limb falling asleep, but without the unpleasantness. Soon the minuet scales began to paper skin, enveloping his fingers and wrist. That effect began to progress up the arm, even though Kelvin bent his will around them holding steady. Instead of edging over like a glove or even halting in the manor of a trained animal, the scales did something; that appeared disturbingly... alert.
They slowed along their path. A rough spattering of them spread unevenly into a freckle pattern, ending a gradual reduction around the bicep. As the effect stabilized, Kelvin thought of the arm being too close to a glitter bomb.

Once the scales came to rest, that tingle dulled away quite a bit as well. The size difference between forms was clearly evident, simply by looking at both his hands alongside one another. The draconic arm tapered back to the original girth before reaching clear skin, showing no actual enlargement of human flesh. The half dragon flexed the fingers experimentally and without difficulty, looking up at Calir as he did so.
"It seems a little rough around the edges, but I might get better at that with practice. I'm still curious about variation in size. It doesn't feel like the muscle or bone expanded at any point, but it surely looks like it did."
[...]
"That's interesting, indeed." the medic said with thoughtful slowness, while studying both of his hands. "What did you feel?" Calir asked while another thought came to his mind.
"And what exactly do you feel now? I can't identify any pain impulses within your body. So I assume the process itself isn't causing you any pain or trouble. Nor is it changing-" the man halted mid-sentence. His eyes focused, face turned academic.
"I'll need to take a look" the Solarian mentioned, taking down his goggles and placing them in his lap. He rubbed his eyes lightly, blinking a couple times afterwards. "Don't get alerted or scared. I will take a close look at both of your arms. My eyes will change, but it's perfectly fine. I can still hear you, we can proceed with the conversation"
Giving the half dragon a fair warning, Calir closed his eyes once more. As the medic reopened them, the black of his eyes had almost entirely vanished. The only trace remaining, was a thin layer of dark around the iris. The man's eyes were glowing in a pure and vibrant green. The pupil emitted a golden impulse. Calir took a ‘closer’ look at Kelvin's arms...
[...]
The taller man tried to remain still, unsure at first what was happening. He eased slightly as the process progressed, nothing bursting into flame or starting to melt. The assumption was made, that this was another one of Calir's alien abilities. Deducing what was most likely for that vision to discern, the half dragon looked at the medic a little wonderstruck. Could this man see within him at will?
"You're not looking at the surface; are you?"
"No, I am taking a deeper look. Past the muscle structure, and up to the bone."
