I'm finding female wrestling to have a stronger and stronger following every day. And that includes Cale, a passionate fan with a blog and rendered human beings focusing mostly on women's wrestling and the action and excitement behind it all.

These two characters are just a few of the tough wrestling characters he's made. Lucy the Crusher (the red-head) who thighs have a reputation for locking many challengers into quick and long submissions; and Corveena (the black short-haired woman) who has had quite a history in high school amateur wrestling, and also won a nationals meet at the collegiate level; when it comes to getting control of the position, her ability is amazing (although escaping Lucy's tough legs always proves to be difficult for anybody).

If you want to see more about these wrestlers, you can find more characters, stories and rendered scenes here.

Very well done. I like the idea of a pro wrestler against a high school wrestler - I'd think Corvenna never had to face a headscissor like this in high school

That's a good point. For many new athletes and challengers that make their way early into the big leagues, they usually find out quick how there are statistics and opponents that tend to overpower their own. Given Corveena's high-school wrestling history, it would make sense that she'd have to step up her game if she wants to give Lucy a fiercer fight. That isn't to say she couldn't beat Lucy yet, but like in most competitive professions, newcomer competitors will likely put their best bets on relying on/or abusing a move or strategy that they've mastered in their short time playing the sport; but this will not work for too long when the expert competitors figure out their first-time strategies. While that isn't always the case for all newcomers, matters like that are for the most part a realistic experience.

Thanks for the insight, friend. It got me thinking hard on what this illustration could tell us all.

You're very welcome and thanks for sharing this work! I wonder if Corvenna will improve after al, pinning your opponent's shoulders to the mat for 2 seconds won't cut it against some trained to create so much pain her opponent must tap out.

I just want to re-verify on Corveena's history for a moment as I just got some informed on some info that needed correcting. Turns out she had managed to win a nationals meet at the collegiate level, and her ability to get and control position is quite amazing, so her experience is more advanced than I assumed. I do want to think that if she did ever get stuck in one of Lucy's headscissor locks, she'd then look for time to get around that opposing move for the next match she ever has with her, all since such a move can be quite difficult to face at first.

That's exactly what happened in their pro-style match, actually. Lucy scored a win with a figure-four headscissors (one of her signature moves) the time they rolled before that, so Corveena focused heavily on working her legs and lower back. So when Lucy locked on the same move in the rematch, even after targeting Corveena's neck, she wasn't able to get a tap. Later in the same match, she wasn't even able to close a bodyscissors with the way her legs were. So good instincts there (or maybe you've read the match...).

Thanks for the clarification I like Corveena s thought process. She is quite the student. I ll have to read the match (I was finally able to access his updated blog - long story) - though she was able to counter theΒ scissor submission, how can an amateur beat a pro?? Pro wrestlers are tough and mean, they don t play by the rulesΒ

If you're curious about Lucy and Corveena, there's a match between them on AFWfan's blog that I'd heartily recommend you look at - they're actually pretty well-matched mid-tier wrestlers. Cale could talk about this better than I can but it's really about who can better put their game plan into action. If Lucy can get Corveena into guard (where she has her legs around her body) or any hold you apply from the lower position, I believe she's got a good chance of winning. Corveena is better at throws, pins and positioning though, in that match I mentioned, she came close to winning by focusing on Lucy's legs with joint locks and such.

I can definitely tell you that this isn't the first time Crusher's made Corveena tap to a headscissors though. Those thighs are brutally powerfulΒ and, while Corveena's got a pretty strong neck, this isn't somewhere anyone wants to be.

Again, these are mid tier though. There are some wrestlers on his roster that would easily beat either barring a minor miracle but Lucy's my favourite.

Edit: Actually, the easiest way is to just quote one of their encounters - "Corveena was an elite amateur wrestler. Her submission game isn't as good. Very few grapplers would be better at controlling position on the ground though.

Crusher is a lot more rounded. Especially her submissions holds. Especially from bottom position. And anything that involves her legs around her opponent...

Well..."

Taken from AFWfan's blog, hopefully he won't mind me quoting for evidence purposes.

As I said in our exchange of notes, I think this is awesome work. A great rendition of Lucy and Corveena and exactly what I was looking for when I put in the request/commission. Thank you again and I hope to be commissioning more stuff from you soon!

That's down to me - Lucy is my absolute favourite of Cale's OCs and there was no way I'd put in a commission without asking him if she could be involved. She's just such an awesome character from her looks to her fighting style.

Plus scissors are my favourite type of hold and who better to go for than the Crusher?

(Also, I'd just like to say that Cale introduced me to your webcomic and it's incredible. I'm definitely hooked, Krystin's my favourite character and it's always great to see the other art you do. Particularly when it's of Lucy but hey... I'm predictable like that.)
