Doodled this in about 10 minutes or so. lady-kimba and ChaseYoungIsMine have both recently gotten into "The Lion Guard", and convinced me to watch the pilot special. ><; Ooooh I HATED the pilot. There were so many things I had to complain about. I'm not opposed to the idea of the Lion Guard series (I still really love the first two Lion King films from my childhood and I don't mind the idea of this series on Disney Junior expanding on it) but the pilot could have been handled way better.But then Kimba shared with me that info on a new character had been leaked, and I near about lost my cool.
Jasiri is a young hyena girl who sings a duet with Kion (Simba's and Nala's son, Kiara's younger brother) that is basically about shattering the racist stereotypes that all the other animals in the TLK universe have shafted hyenas into. She assists him first episode when he gets stranded in the Outlands, and helps Kion to realize that maybe everything he's been led to believe about hyenas doesn't quite apply to all of them, and in turn he helps her to realize that maybe all lions aren't a bunch of stuck-up snobs with totalitarian attitudes.
Guys. GUYS. Jasiri is the character I've been waiting for since I was FOUR YEARS OLD back when The Lion King first came out. I've been waiting for this character to be created for TWENTY-TWO YEARS and she's finally here. ;~; Kimba had been gently urging me to watch the episode with her, but I hadn't gotten around to it until today, and I'm so glad I did. It made me so happy and I smiled so much. My mental health day needed this. I LOVE Jasiri, she's such an upbeat little punk, and I adore her. So of course I had to draw her. (The "smol corgi" thing is what Kimba, Nicole and I've taken to calling her, mostly because when I watched the pilot with them, I couldn't stop remarking that the way the hyenas are animated in the series reminds me of corgis for some reason.) And now that I've drawn this small baby, excuse me while I continue my mental health day and marathon Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld.

ohhh my gosh, I have heard a lot about The Lion Guard lately and I have just found the first four episodes online, I'm now going to watch them because TLK has been my childhood and I'm deeply in love with that universe. I already had read a few things about this animated serie and not everything makes sense in my opinion, there are so many things that contradict the first two movies and it made me upset a little, but before judging I at least want to give this a try. anyway, as I already said. TLK has been my childhood, so why not??

having an open mind is what's best nowadays!! so that you can at least give something a try, and see if it is in your own tastes. if not, well, at least you gave it a try.
I so agree with you on what you said of the movie about Timon and Pumbaa, it was pretty dull in my opinion and it had nothing to do with the first two TLK movies, even though Timon and Pumbaa are themselves two awesome characters.
I'm feeling like I'm being the "neutral" one about The Lion Guard at the moment, so I'm in the middle between the lovers and the haters of this show. XD I watched the episode with Jasiri and it really was adorable. I still can't get why Kion has this sort of "power" from the clouds, shaping like lions and blowing wind when he roars... I was like "errr what". but never mind it. XD anyway I'm already liking Ono a lot, I dunno why, it might be because I'm obsessed by birds. *rolls on the floor*

Uuuuuggghhh. I don't mind Timon and Pumbaa, I really don't, but their movie was boring and didn't really add anything to the story overall.
I'm with you there; I am presently sitting at neutral on the series. (I think Kion's power is sort of silly in a ridiculous way, but whatever.) I actually agree with you there, I like Ono; he's a bundle of fun~.

Jasiri sure is a fun episode and so far out of the 4 eps that have aired hers has been the best. She looks so cute and happy here the smol corgi punk that she is. I should draw her myself sometime. Not gonna lie, Yoru. I hate what The Lion Guard is and how it contradicts the first two films, but when I saw Jasiri I fell in love with her, too! And the song she sings is honestly incredibly addicting. Her song has been STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR DAYS!

To be perfectly honest, Avi, I'm not sure I'm going to keep watching any of it? Again, I don't mind the idea of that particular universe being expanded upon, but the way that the pilot has done it was handled so clumsily and there are at present so many loose-ends and plotholes that the writer in me probably wouldn't be able to watch most of it without snarking. But if there is more Jasiri, I want more Jasiri. ;~; I love her so much already and I'm right there with you; Sisi Ni Sawa is such an addicting song and I've actually taken to playing it almost nonstop whenever I open at work. (Drives my coworkers up a wall, though my GM adores the song by now.)
