Description The lovely, elegant Miria. This was an experiment with ArtRage's Marker tool, which has been refusing to cooperate with me, but I refuse to give up!

i LOVE this! emphatically! with a piece like this as proof, i say you should never ever give up, even when your drawing program fights back! i'm enchanted by her eyes...

also, can i mention that the way you colored her necklace is especially striking? i'm sorry if it seems like an odd detail to comment on, but it dazzled me!

while i'm not familiar with the character, the entire piece has a subtle beauty that i find irresistible. thank you for sharing it

I go crazy over little details like fingers and hair like that x"D The effect comes from Photoshop's burn/dodge layer -- it's like using the burn/dodge tool, except if you create a layer above the coloured layer and change the blending mode, you effectively get the same effect with better control.

Miria comes from a manga/anime series called Claymore. It's reasonably popular with FM fans, with the cast being 98% female warriors. You might like it : ) [link] or [link]

YAY! i have gained knowledge!

thank you for the information... photoshop practically bursts at the seams with features, and i am constantly reminded that i have barely scratched the program's surface in my artistic travels. please continue going crazy over those details, because they are much admired and appreciated! and i will explore the blending layers as you described! i will become more experienced with photoshop!

also thank you muchly for the links! it is very kind of you to share them... i am always on the hunt for new shows and films to watch and books to read! Claymore looks interesting, i will certainly check it out!

yw : )
To be sure, you create a burn/dodge layer, and then use the -brush- tool (not the burn/dodge tool) to paint in the burn/dodge effects. I tend to use greys for that.

Oh, and by me going crazy, I was referring to how I'd rave to another artist about their work too, like "Wow, those hands look fantastic, they're so expressive... oh, btw, I like the rest of your picture too" x"D

Have fun watching!
