Wow! This came out really well for my first deviation! Looks like I'm a bit better at painting on the computer than I am with colored pencils.
I did it on the Million Masterpiece website. I love the paint program there! It's really easy to use, and shading is a breeze. (and, of course, there's an undo button. XD)

Well, I think it all started with a book I got for christmas one year. I didn't draw anything from the book, but i remember I learned a few things about shading from it. For round shapes, it's pretty simple: you select a direction for a light source, then make a shadowed section on the other side... Ok this is hard to explain, so I'll have to upload a tutorial or something!

I should try doing a tutorial sometime. ^_^ I'm not sure what it would be for, though, seeing as I'm not really good enough at anything to make a tutorial for it. ^_^; Oh well. Guess that is the first thing I should do then: Get better.

lol XD Well, once you develop your own style of shading, you could make a tutorial, but then somebody will most likely copy it, so it won't be unique anymore...
