Thanks dewd. But yeah.... this kinda stems from a lot of people saying how much they hated this year, and it got me to thinking that soooooo many people use bad experiences during a single year to defeat themselves, or say that a certain YEAR is horrible. And because most people like to do that, they destroy their outlook on the rest of the year ahead.
When people do that, it refuses to acknowledge any good that has happened within that time period. And I personally don't like positivity being outweighed by negativity.
"In 2019, I'm finally living my dream of being an Astronaut, BUT I lost $10 last week, so 2019 sucks."......... see how ridiculous this looks? :m

Personally, there is a lot of truth to your argument about whether or not a single event or so can ruin your outlook on the following year. Although, I know you mentioned it in your description, dealing with a sense of painful loss is complicated because there's a lot of overwhelming emotion that comes with that...enough to the point you may consider the rest of that year bad. Like with me for example, losing my Mom in 2013 not to mention other family members that year as well made me longing for 2014 to come and I couldn't think of much of a positive word to say about that year. I guess my point is that it's understandable if some people get so overwhelmed by said emotion that they may not desire to look back on said year with much enthusiasm. But thankfully that's also where your advice comes through for those types of people, where you teach them not to dwell on events but rather do your best to move forward and learn from your experience to hopefully grow stronger on a personal level than you were before.

It's all unfortunate timing. Still sorry you had to endure that. Also, rewinding to what I said, and what I ultimately mean is that there ARE some years that are just totally bad for people. Like getting evicted from your home, nearly committing suicide, losing a job, lost a loved one, loss of friendship....... these are all examples I had experienced through friends in 2019....... (the last one, I experienced, unfortunately. >___> ) but even still..... it's not that particular year that was awful..... it's just that life can spiral downward for people, for an extended period of time..... and that misfortune can be pinpointed easier by calling out a year that it all happened.Β
Much like in 2009, for me, I almost lost my Mom, when she overdosed on her medications. She had like well over 50 different medications that she takes, and I guess after enough time, she took the wrong ones too close together, and it quite literally ate her alive. She was developing a hole in her stomach on top of all the psychological effects it had on her brain. It was killing us all when she kept telling us she wasn't gonna make it. She said it all day long, until there was a late night emergency that the Paramedics had to come in and take her out in the back of an Ambulance. Scary stuff that I remember like it was yesterday. But now look...... we're 10-11 years past that point, and my Mom is thankfully still here. I know not all stories continue on happily like this one, but through all that has happened back in 2009, or even more health scares throughout the years up to now... I don't have any reason to say any of the years were bad in themselves...... it's just unfortunate times that happen in life.Β I know we're already on the same page with this, so there's no need to further explain.
Thank you for always being there, and understanding..... even when you're going through your own battles.... Your own hell on Earth..... you always remain kind and genuine.Β

Sorry to hear about your own experiences with loss/near loss, be it friendship or your own mother...which is needless to say life-changing in various respects. I suppose it's important to stop, take a deep breath, and try to renew your line of thinking whenever you're feeling overwhelmed by any such events that you mentioned. Trying to remain present in the moment and remember that you're still here and still have a life ahead of you, and to look for the noteworthy positives that happened during the year regardless if it was pretty good or not so good for the majority of the time. It's like that Ferris Bueller's Day Off quote: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it." Seems to apply rather well to this subject.Β
Sure thing dude, and thank you for always being there for me too whenever I've needed some friend to confide in. It's friends like you that help me to continue paving the way forward in my own life even when times get pretty rough. I honestly really appreciate your kindness especially throughout the long time we've both known one another. You're a good friend, man.
