Description Figured I'd make a thing in honor of one of our fallen Nintendo icons, over the years. I'mma keep it real short... Mr. Iwata, it was an honor to have experienced so many things that you've contributed to, to entertain, to teach, to learn. You may not be with us all physically, but you will live on in the hearts of Nintendo fans, Ex-Nintendo fans, and Non-Nintendo fans for all of video gaming eternity. Thank you!

Thumbs up to you, Satoru Iwata..... Hope y'all like.

Hettman [2015-07-16 10:08:26 +0000 UTC]

He saved Nintendo on the brink on many occasions!

Took a 50% pay-cut and ordered the other executives across the board to do the same when he could of instead layed off a 1/3 of the workforce!

He cared more about quality over quantity!

And to top it off! NINTENDO! - (Literal meaning means: Leave luck to Heaven or to the Heavens!)

He left Luck to heaven! And I hope and pray the blessed lord shows mercy to him and is fair on him on his day of judgment! Hopefully but I can never be sure if he is admitted to paradise.....

If there was a piece of music I would play in his memorial service, these two songs would be appropriate: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dKJnS… and www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT4nE3…

If I ever enter the Video game industry as an indie game producer/director or a partner of Nintendo or its projects in the future! I will damn make sure this man did not die vain!
Preserving his works, vision, reaching out to your fans and innovating to Nth degree where no one has gone or thought before is definitely what he would like us to do!

There is a time to mourn and a time to be overflowing with joy! Now for this year is former but in time do not let this drag you down but never forget that he lived and existed on this blessed but ever troubled Earth!

YoshiMan1118 In reply to Hettman [2015-07-16 12:07:41 +0000 UTC]

Amen to that, for damn sure, man.

He certainly was a selfless business man, who gave what he could to the fans, rather than taking everything he possibly could from us. Surely his practices are what kinda let Nintendo lag behind of the other 2 mainstream consoles, but that was the thing that made them more free to be original, and unique. Not just cashing in on Shooter games left and right, and DLC in every game known to man. Nintendo actually didn't believe in doing DLC for a while, until it kinda became necessary in the gaming world.

(Though we don't agree with EVERYTHING he's done, he at least had the best intentions for the fans, and to help the company grow, together.)

Anyways, may Iwata live on forever more in the hearts of us gamers.

Hettman In reply to YoshiMan1118 [2015-07-17 09:23:03 +0000 UTC]

(Though we don't agree with EVERYTHING he's done, he at least had the best intentions for the fans, and to help the company grow, together.)

That is all that is needed in my eyes! Nothing less! For if your intentions are impure or obstructed/compromised it will translate into what you do and will show itself in your many works in life!

The blessed Lord did say "You cannot see the spirit of God but you'll be able to see if people have the spirit of the Lord in hearts."
Just as one cannot see the wind itself, but we can see its effects on the matter around us!

"Surely his practices are what kinda let Nintendo lag behind of the other 2 mainstream consoles, but that was the thing that made them more free to be original, and unique."

The high and virtuous path requires sacrifice and energy! And not all are willing to do that. For no one drifts to virtue! Ever!

Iwata did not choose the easy and maneuverable/exploitable path! Of course that cost the entire company a considerable millions of Yen from their war-chest of rainy day funds to just stay afloat....

It is diversity that is both our greatest strength and weakness. But it's only those few people who have or know the difficult way of patience, will ever see the flourishing fruit of harsh labour bud!

Hang tight to whatever virtue you still live by. For all it takes to become darkened and immoral or on the verge of demonic/satanic is that one momentary opening of weakness and the direct will/act of capitulation!

But the word to the deed is a long way!

And the thing about Originality is this. That it is one the most difficult things to accomplish in this age of video-games like no other and will progressively get worse as the laws of entropy dictate!

If I ever enter the Industry at some point of time! I'll introduce something different,(As that is the only way destroy or avert the possibility of a disaster known as the video-game Plateau or in general terms an artists/creators block/limit, should it ever happen... That will be the closest thing to the death-knell of video-games period!

What I'll create will be something hat reflects not only my life but also everything around me and the heritage/background behind/before me, it may run similar path's/plots of games/stories to others that I've been exposed to but I'll make sure that it stays original, innovative, and enjoyable for all! Even in the event that the strategies, stories, and characters run extremely close or parallel to another game!

And I hope I never deviate from this promise in any way shape or form! But I can't give any reassuring guarantees!

I also applaud Nintendo for keeping their key franchises out of the hands of cheap third parties and keeping them on their own console and not giving an arm or leg to the temptation of multi-platforms of different consoles like what the demise of Sega had to do keep its name alive

For all its antagonistic rivalry rhetoric like that of Rare, it lost its ability to be on its own console and thus lost the console wars! Even look what rare has been relegated(demoted by Microsoft) to doing...nothing but simple, cheap, and unenjoyable/no replay value Kinect games that most of the original staff is gone!

It's painful to watch what has become of those co-created the dang good DK series and Banjo series(Except the 3rd looks really bad) and not to mention that hilarious and the most mature and may I mention Uncensored game Nintendo ever released at the beginning of 2000's and mostly still is to this very date, despite Nintendo being more Family oriented gaming company/community!

I think the idea of targeting the younger audiences like children are why they have been very successful to date! That move was smart! Gotta leave it to Miyamito, Iwata, Yamauchi, and etc. for that brilliant patient strategy! It has paid off for them.

FYI: I think this Friday is his memorial service.
