Material: Gesso Primed Drawing Paper
Medium: Wet - Acrylic Paint
This is an acrylic painting I did as a final for my last figure drawing class in May 2003. The objective was to create at least three different types of figures in a background setting of our choosing. The result is one of my most grim and oppressing pieces.
The background is supposed to be that of a hospital room, with a gurney and two patients in the foreground. Standing in the back holding that particularly large knife is a surgeon/butcher/executioner type figure.
This whole piece evokes the kind of fear and dread of hospitals, a place often associated with pain, suffering, and death. In that way it can be a very frightening place, although that is my own interpretation. It is whatever your mind makes it out to be.

Awesome... I love the realism... and looks pretty evil!!! I love how you drew that PH.. the 'head' looking more black than red gives your PH a pretty dark-er and creepy feel!

Only one problem.... Pyramid head was never able to actually hold his sword up.....
sorry... im a fanatic of dark surrealism and horror.....
but still, this is a most amazing piece of work..... really nice

Oooooooh, you're right. Good point there. I just liked the knife better than the spear, so I replaced it without thinking about the weight difference. He's such a strong dude though, so I think if he wanted to he could carry it like that. Maybe.....

Dont get me wrong though, that is one damn amazing piece of art work.
Still looks really good either way, and you are right, Pyramid heads power is supposed to be unlimited and unstopable.... so he can hold it however he likes
