Description Hey look, more of Imposter Ink.

Drawing her before  was a lot of fun, so heck with it, let's make it angst-

(Me: *writes about Ink being afraid of being spaced just because that seems like a logical thing to be afraid of*
Also me, not even ten minutes later: "What if I end the comic with Ink about to be spaced for maximum angst-")

So basically, I had a few thoughts regarding Hearts (Lux) as an Imposter; and if Stars (Orion) was a crewmate... what it boils down to is that Hearts wouldn't let anything get in the way of him getting Stars and himself somewhere safe. That means that no one on the spaceship can know where they were, can know that they're still alive. Especially not his fellow Imposter, who would be the only link back to their home world and who would be able to let them know why the mission 'failed'. (Since Stars would still be alive.)

So I threw together a bit of a storyline.  (Also, a random note: if there was some sort of 'mission' for the Imposters, Ink probably wasn't chosen intentionally. Like she's said; anxiety and espionage don't mix. She likely ended up in this situation on accident and is just trying to make the best of a bad situation.  )

Ink isn't stupid and would've figured out Hearts' intentions pretty quick. So this isn't her actually 'declaring war' so much as her knowing that war is inevitable; and saying 'fine, let's just get this over with.' (Also; she knows full well that Lux will probably win. Of course she'll fight it, but... chances are he would.) But, unfortunately... the pair of them have actually become good friends at this point. (Having to cover each other's backs will do that.) Not to mention they're about the only other people who understand what it's like to be an Imposter in love with a Crewmate. The pair actually... care about each other, in a way; and neither of them really likes the inevitable fight that will have to occur between them; neither of them is all right with the fact that the other threatens the person they love. (Part of why she actually does ask him to try not to space her. She does think he cares about her to some extent; and that he'll at least try to avoid that fear if he can. It's a bit of a messed up situation all around.)

There are a few ideas I had for that scene at the end (the last panel); one or two involve Hearts actually 'winning' and managing to get the other Crewmates to turn on Ink, resulting in her being spaced (with some of her last words being to Hearts that he and Stars should take care of each other), and yeah, that's the one I drew.   (Though to note: Ink wasn't wrong about Hearts taking her fears into account. He wouldn't have had her spaced if he felt he had a different choice.) It was more angsty than I intended, but I mostly drew it because it was easier to draw than the actual scenario I really thought about. (Though if you want help with making the angst a bit lighter, it could easily lead into a scenario of Red rushing in to save her.

But the scenario I wanted to do was this, basically:

Hearts was on kill cooldown, but that didn't matter so much (he's pretty dangerous whether he has his Imposter abilities or not) but Ink was not. Ink managed to get Red to an escape pod they fixed; managed to get him a chance. Hearts was after them, of course, and only one thing stopped him:

Ink had Stars. And she was not on cooldown.

If Ink could get to the other escape pod (she'd shoved Red into the first one), she could make it. They'd be running, of course, but they'd make it. Hearts would still be after them, but if she disposed of Stars... she'd have a better chance to get to the escape pod in time; and Hearts would be devastated. It wouldn't give them long- revenge is a powerful motivator- but... it would give them some time to get away.

But she didn't hurt Stars. Instead, she dragged him along with her- slowing herself down- and when it came down to the final choice- kill him and run or get caught by Hearts- she stopped running. And she let Stars go.

It had been her best chance, but... she was tired of this. So tired of fighting, so tired of hurting people. It wasn't just Hearts' feelings that she cared about; she liked Stars as well. She didn't want to kill him.

At that point, she wasn't actually sure if Hearts would kill her or not. There was a good chance he would, but... a good chance he wouldn't, too. They had been good friends; there was a hope that he would understand. Slim, but it was there.

But... she took the chance. She didn't want to kill anymore, and she didn't want to hurt Hearts or Stars, so... she took the chance.

Since this is angst I would leave this up to the reader's imagination on what Hearts actually did, but I will say that's actually one of the few scenarios where he would just... let them both go. Ink didn't hurt Stars- and she had every chance and every reason to- so clearly she's not likely to hurt him in the future. And if she wants Red safe... then he'll let Red go, too, for her sake. It's a good possibility, at least.

Anyway. Still having fun with this.
