I've only seen a stag in the wild once. This type of deer is rare in the Czech Republic, or at least round where I live - there are plenty of roe deer though. They seem to occupy every field, and I wonder whether they have territorial instincts and perhaps fight over the fields with other herds...if they prefer certain crops. Also, there recently appeared a bunch of swans munching on the greens, and now I'm expecting there'll be a war soon. .. I should've studied biology instead of literature.

haha, WAR OF THE WILDLIFE. These red deer are in abundance in the Scottish Highlands as there is so much to munch on, so much space and no wolves to hunt them. Plenty of rich people with rifles to keep their numbers down, a big industry it is.
