This was bit of a struggle.
I knew how I wanted it to look, but my skills left quite a few things to be desired.
I just wanted that air of mystery surrounding them during the descent scene...

I'll be honest, I have yet to read Kay's version. I looked for it yesterday while at a bookstore, and it had a book by her, but not Phantom

Kay's Phantom used to be notoriously hard to find.
My paperback copy is yellow from age and is falling apart.
Luckily, I came across with a hardcover copy a few years ago, albeit without the dust cover.
It was actually used as part of the set dressing in the show I was working on.
Imagine my surprise upon finding it - I felt like I struck gold!
Needless to say, I claimed it before anyone can say no.
At least I asked the props master before taking it...

It's one of my favorite moments in the show, that little gesture of Christine glancing back as Erik leads her down to his underground kingdom.
The lighting and the fog add a lot to the atmosphere.

I love this scene as well - it's visually stunning, and establishes such atmosphere.
