Description

Bernice Roberts is the heart and "team mom" of the Reapettes. She's the calmest and most polite of the group, the easiest to approach, and the most grounded. She is nowhere near as eccentric as her four friends, but her determination and heroism makes her more than worthy of being on the Reapettes team. She is the older sister of Bertha Roberts, who eventually joins Purgatory, a villainous crime gang from the Other who wish to rewrite the universe into chaos to prove the meaningless of life and death. Bernice originally joins them just to save her sister, but once she finds out Bertha doesn't want to be saved and actively tries to kill Bernice, she eventually stays because she finds value in being a Reapette. She wishes to stop the dark forces that robbed her of her family so no one else may feel the pain of losing someone close to the supernatural, as well as knowing life and death are worth protecting despite the pain it can bring people. As well as finding value in being a protector of the afterlife and a friend and sister figure to Vivian, Skye, April, and Erica.

Bernice's personality is very charming: generous, smart, and gentle. She's nowhere near as kooky as her friends, so she's very cautious and occasionally uncertain of the supernatural mishaps of the Other, even Death himself. Due to her losing her sister to supernatural forces, she takes them very seriously and is often intimidated by them, while still finding the courage to fight for what she believes is right. She can be kind and patient, but has a fear of hurting others. She can even be angry, bitter, and resentful when people don't notice her kindness or mistreat her. She can even be prone to neglect other people when she is angry because she doesn't want to hurt them, and she can be susceptible to getting herself into sticky situations. She can be so kind that she actively rejects help when she needs it for fear of scaring them or breaking her outward appearance of unflappability, which can land her in trouble. She has an ego due to her years of endless praise, being her parents little angel and a darling in her community, but she tries her best to stay humble though this can prove difficult sometimes because of her easily being flattered and even deceived, like what Bertha did to her. But she's smarter than she appears, such as helping the girls stay organized and focused due to her level-headiness and maturity. She's no coward or cheat, and she believes everyone has a right to love, even if they don't deserve it.

Her job as a Reapette is very valuable to her, since she sees this as a chance to help the most unfortunate: the dead. While she's easily spooked by some of the creepy crawlies of the Other, the rest of the Reapettes help her embrace the strange with their quirk and charm. She likes their bizarre way of viewing life, while the other girls respect and admire Bernice for her kind heart and gentle demeanor. Bernice is a devoted Christian, often helping her father Roger with his Sunday teachings, while offering the church up to act as protection from evil spirits for the Reapettes while offering knowledge of demonic creatures. She's also a skilled piano player, singer, and baker. Bernice is also trained in dance, specifically ballet, making her a graceful and nimble fighter able to dodge, leap, and maneuver like nobody's business! She's good at boosting her team, playing defense and offensive, and helping the other girls stay on track, making her an important member of the Reapettes. Though her relationship with Death is rocky, since she is often questioning her faith as she learns more and more about the afterlife and gets uncomfortable around Death. But they do bond over questions about life and the universe and even share the fear of not being perfect, so they do occasionally bond She's smart, motherly, brave, and selfless, though she has an ego and sometimes forgets to take care of herself, Bernice is no doubt a new but true Reapette.
