Sleep has yet to claim you
Rain beats softly at the window pane
A small consolation for the tears that would not come
Was it all just a figment of the imagination?
Was it but a dream in the day?
The lips, those dark eyes
You catch yourself lightly running your fingers across your lips
Her tongue teasing
You recall
You breathe in deep and turn to your side
Nuzzling your pillow
A whiff of the scent
Sweet musk and sweat
Hers
And you clench your eyes
As your mind shouts out her name
Was it all a dream?
You get up and reach for a leather jacket
It reeks of blood gone stale
And
God, you pray it was just a dream...
Just a damn fucking dream.
