Thank you very much I'd go back and reshoot Central but I'd probably get kicked out for being a terrorist

Yep! Supposedly if you have a chat with the station master first you've got a good chance of getting permission to photograph inside the station, but it seems like a whole lot of screwing about to me. Stupid terrorists messing things up for everyone else.

Still, I love the photo.

lovely shot in itself, and the hdr isnt all overdone with random blacks all over the place if you follow... cool with the faded people indeed, and the one guy just on the bench, watching them

thank you very much I'm glad you don't think the HDR is overdone, sometimes I've wondered about it.

I've often thought about going back and shooting some more like this.

Nice one ! I never really thought of this effect until I saw this !

i've got the same camera like you, so I must try this one day

Hey thanks Yeah I really like the way this image turned out, at the time of shooting i thought the people might spoil the effect. The FZ8 is a great camera, I find the UI makes it really easy to take HDRs without any hassle, on my old camera it used to take twice as long

Yes, it's a very handy camera.
How do you take your HDR's ?
Multiple auto bracketed JPEG shots, one raw shot or multiple raw shots with different exposure. Mostly I take one raw shot, but multiple raw shots always have the best result here ^^

youwha In reply to h0er [2008-08-13 03:09:09 +0000 UTC]

To tell you the truth I usually just shoot 5 different exposure JPEGs, I find RAW rarely gives me a good result, plus it eats up the memory card a lot faster too. I figure I've a better chance of getting some good shots from 500 JPEGs than from 100 RAWs.

h0er In reply to youwha [2008-08-13 18:50:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, memory card problem isn't that much of a problem here. And yeah, you're right, you have a better chance if you do that.

So you use a tripod ?

youwha In reply to h0er [2008-08-13 23:01:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes I always use a tripod, the one I have is very light and compact so I have no trouble taking it places.

I want a tripod too
What tripod do you have ? was it expensive ?

I have a little Slik Mirage, I dont know how much it was since it was a birthday present but I dont think it was that much.

Hmm, seems a nice little tripod
I'll buy one too maybe, tho my heart still lies with a proper DSLR , but I don't have the money right now

And I googled it and it has a price around 22 Euro's, so it's cool

youwha In reply to h0er [2008-08-15 23:51:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh me too, but I think I'll be sticking with the camera I've got for another two years or so before I can afford a DSLR

h0er In reply to youwha [2008-08-16 09:36:48 +0000 UTC]

Hehe ^^

But there are DSLR's that aren't very more expensive than our DMC-FZ8, you know

This is gorgeous! It's amazing how railway terminals look the same the world over - at least, those classic Victorian-type ones

Thanks I'd never really thought of that, but now you mention it thats quite true.

unorthodox6 [2008-08-06 04:43:02 +0000 UTC]

wow thats a really cool effect, is the effect made from the difference in time between the exposures? I think I will have to try this

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

youwha In reply to unorthodox6 [2008-08-06 04:45:02 +0000 UTC]

Hey thanks yeah it is, I find most of the time it's a drawback of HDR, but in this instance it worked quite well.
