Description I did this in response to talking to one of my sisters friends (who is gay). He was telling me about how his high school has changed (new principle, no more GSA). Told me how concervative everyone is and how he gets treated on a daily basis and what he has gone through in the past (stuff i wouldn't wish on my worst enemies). I guess i was lucky. I don't know if it was because the school i went to was mor liberal, or because society was more liberal at the time, because i am bi or just had the right friends that i was never treated like this, never had a bad experience. Sadly many gay teens have gone through things like this. gone through hard times, had rejection by friends and even family. Sadly too much of this contry is conservative/bigoted and lets someone's sexuality get in the way of knowing who the person really is. Comments appreciated as always. not sure if i am going to do more to this or leave it like this.

thanks to for letting me use his stock for this which can be found by clicking here [link]

My family was very conservative, but homosexuality was just not an issue that ever came up. Whenever my brothers or I would happen to mention it on rare occasions, my parents listened to what we had to say, and said that Jesus had no stance for or against homosexuality, so neither did they. In later years, I though that was pretty cool of them, until I found out much later about why they had "encouraged me" to leave behind a childhood friendship I had when that friend stopped showing up. It wasn't until he came back to town to die with his reconciled family that learned that he had been gay (we grew up together and I never gave it a second thought) and when he came out to his family at 16, they had driven him out. He had left the country, and ended up in one bad relationship after another until one bastard decided to not tell him that he had AIDS.

I didn't learn a lot about the story until after he died. His friends at school had been his support network, but the church community we were all a part of passed summary judgment on him and found him "unsavoury". That led to him having to come out to his family. I will have the debt of not being there for him when he needed me, but I directly blame that church at its congregation for my friend's untimely death.

As such, I cannot understand how people can have the utter gall to presume they have the right to judge a person's sexual orientation. Who the hell do they think they are? What right do they have to make a difficult situation even worse for these kids? It's such utter hubris!

Parents who tell their kids if they are gay that they will be thrown out diserve to have their children taken away from them, I am sad that the world is still like this...
But on the bright side, Homosexuals and Pedophiles aren't the same thing any more (Points to Boy's Beware video from the 50's)

Man, I feel lucky in comparison. I'm Pan, and even though was bullied, it wasn't that harsh, since I'm a girl and society has a double standard with gay/bi women over men. Suck ass if you ask me, especially since I'm gender fluid and sometimes I prefer being a dude.

People fear and hate what they don't understand. It's a flaw in humanity.

I'm straight, but I believe love is a pure and powerful force. I know a gay couple and everyone that knows them are fully aware of how in love they are.

Things will change for the better. I don't know when or how...but they WILL change...

This is a great peice - it's sadly true. My family is extremely Christian, besides my uncle, his wife and my cousin. I'm a transgender.. Really hard dealing with school, especially when your own parents don't love you for who you truly are
NO GSA!!!!??? WTFFFFFFFFFFF I'm president of mine and I wanna come over there and knock some sense into the school committee. According to law, every high school requires one D: All of my love and support to your dear friend <3

You are who you are and you should be excepted for being yourself. I hate people who are mean to others because of there sexuality, religion or race. I have friends who have gone through stuff like this and it's horrible. People should be accepted for personality and just that. I agree nobody should have to go through what some of these people go through every day

As a born again Christian, I cannot say that I agree with homosexuality BUT I MOST CERTAINLY do not tolerate the over played "Christian" Holy war on homosexuals. I cannot stand hearing negative words and phrases being tossed around ruining peoples lives. We, as christians, have not given ourselves a very good name when it comes to following what Jesus would have done and for that I am truly and honestly sorry. I hope in the future we can work out better strategies for getting along.

I still don't understand why so many well-meaning conservatives think it's a choice. Why would anyone choose to live like this when all we get is torment? Parents begging their kids to stop being a homosexual and enter into "a loving, healthy, straight relationship" is not okay, yet it continues anyway.

Ah, I feel sorry for your sister's friend. I have a lot of gay friends and we're lucky to go to a very liberal school (in fact two of my friends, a gay and a lesbian going as friends, were crowned homecoming king and queen at our school... although not announced as such). Growing up in a "gay is ok" house (my mom's bridesmaid was a gay man) and going to a liberal school makes me forget that gays suffer so much in other areas. They've come fare in the past decade, but there's still a long way to go.
