I think most died of starvation (lack of prey due to cold). It was very thin. In addition I found it on the floor of an abandoned house so it was a bit sheltered.

Aw, that's not a very good way to die. I wish if it had to die, it could have just froze. Still, your picture representation of it was extremely beautiful, and captured death quite well.
