Description The war of 1812 is one of the most forgotten but important wars in American history. While US probability of winning the war was low OTL because of how its military was organized back then, had the US been more prepared to take over Canada this could have likely been the result of North America by 2023.

My predicted chronology of events:
The US wins the war and signs peace with the UK by 1816. Thanks to this great success by the Democratic-Republicans lead by James Madison, it allows them to also push for a more rigid deadline on the end of slavery, most likely in 1830s-40s. Due to the success the US had in its first war of conquest; Manifest Destiny becomes a more popular political platform in the US.
In 1820, the Missouri Compromise is still signed, with the intention of setting a clear end date for slavery. The Union, having received a great morale boost from defeating a major European power, decides to go to war with Spain in order to seize Cuba. By 1822, new territories in the Caribbean would have been conquered, along with the US refining its borders in the West and securing the Spanish claim over Oregon Country.
In 1824, Russia and the US sign a treaty defining the borders of Russian America, or Alaska.
1844-46, during this time, the Caribbean territories and Texas, along with the Canadian States of Quebec, Upper Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland, become US states. Most of former Rupert's Land and beyond still remains a territory.
In 1848, the treaty of Guadeloupe-Hidalgo is signed, with Mexico being forced to give away greater territories thanks to needing more states to keep the balance of slave and free states. This results in Yucatan and Rio Grande being admitted as slave states, whereas Chihuahua and Sonora become territories.
By 1861, the deadline to end slavery is long overdue, and the practice of it has declined as well, with so little as 1% of the Southern population owning slaves. Abraham Lincoln is sworn in on the platform to formally end slavery, and the South rebels. The states of Florida, Cuba, Dominica, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Bahamas, Yucatan, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi attempt to secede from the Union. Thanks to the greater presence of Democratic-Republican politics persisting into the 1830's and 40's, slavery as a practice died down in the Upper South. As a result, West Virginia is never created. The fighting in this Civil War is more reminiscent of the Bleeding Kansas conflict than what we had in our timeline, with internal rebellions against state governments rather than a full out unified rebellion against the federal government. In the end, the war ends by 1863. Shortly afterwards, Lincoln issues the Emancipation Proclamation, and the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments are still ratified. (I do also want to mention that because the North Virginia Army would not be fighting for the rebels in this timeline, the Confederate Flag as we'd know it would be the Stars and Bars instead of the Southern Cross)
In 1867, the US still purchases Alaska.
In 1868, the US purchases Greenland and the Danish West Indies from Denmark. Denmark's main reason for selling is the inevitability of eventual US takeover of these lands anyway, and the cost to defend them was not worth their profits.
In 1899, the US would still annex Hawaii, completing its state expansion.
