No, the Morrigan of Celtic mythology. She was a shapeshifting goddess of death, war, wealth, agriculture and fertility. She would take the form of a crow or a raven and fly overhead in battlefields, but she also takes the forms of a wolf, a cow, a horse, an eel and her human forms ranged from the form of an ugly old woman washing bloody rags at a riverbed. Some people refer to her in this form as the Washer at the Ford. Then there was the average-looking midwife. Then there was my favorite form of the Morrigan; a sexy young maiden completely naked but in blue warpaint covering her entire body... The Morrigan in this form is always depicted as having black hair, green eyes and a seductive attitude.

Sounds like a tale I've heard in many different cultures not just celtic. These center pieces of mythology are re-told and adapted over and over for thousands of years through many different cultures. I always think out of the box and wonder WHY these specific stories are re-told. Maybe there not just myths maybe they where immortal creatures that changed there name and looks to survive through the eons. (tinfoil hat is on)

Well for the most part, the Morrigan is only the Celtic version of many other diety's of the same nature, only the Morrigan is more ancient than that of the Norse Valkyries for example. Who were similar to the Morrigan in the sense that they were shapeshifters that flew over battlefields in the form of a crow. I remember reading something about what you were talking about, how myths like these are re-told over the centuries. When you think about it, it is kind of mind boggling...

I love overwhelming underlying connections that almost make you want to say, " My mind was blown."

I know right? Like it almost seems as if every culture in the world shares the same stories; same characters, different names... kinda makes me go back to what you were saying about how every living creature at one time must've shared all the same memories. Like how a spider somehow seems to already know how to spin its web, even for the first time in its life.

Exactly which brings so many more conversations about, how do babies know even after learning to breath air know how to hold there breath under water, why do we gather at certain places and automatically feel more at peace. (The ocean)

I have no idea, I guess it's all part of the Circle of Life. Why we gather at certain places and feel more at peace is beyond me, although I always preferred going to the carnival more than the beach, but that's just me! I guess there are some things we just do instinctively without trying. I remember hearing about babies naturally holding their breath underwater too, some people say they can even swim too! How do they know how to do that, I wonder?

very nice. I am actually working on a novel involving a bird of death. I like the ambulant hanging from the flank. Mind if I use it in the story?
