Description Ahhhh, using markers once in a while is kinda relaxing~!!!^0^

This is just a simple drawing I did to test the copic markers I bought. I've always had letraset markers, but my skin colors were kinda dead, so I bought copic skin colors to see what the difference is between the two brands.

Well, too bad for me, but I seriously like copíc's better , and that's too bad, since they are way more expensive than letraset
A well, now I know what to ask for my birthday

i've also always used letraset markers, but i'm about to blow a lot of money on copics - is it worth having both or have your letrasets gone out of use??

Thank you~!!! Well, copic's are for me definitly better, since they have a brush-like tip. But I do still use my letrasets, because I don't have that many copic colors.
In this picture, for example, I only did the skin in copic's. The rest was with letraset. ^^

Hiyo! I like the picture it has a very cool, sort of airbrushed feel. I'm not sure if you already answered this question, but I am a Letraset marker user and haven't had the joy of trying Copic markers. I was wondering if you could tell me what differences you noticed between the two. Thank you for your time. Keep up the great work!

thanks ~!!!!
The difference between letraset and copic's is that the brush tip of copic sketch is very soft. It kinda bends while you color. This way you can blend a lot better that with letraset markers. The ink of copic's is also better, because it doesn't smell so bad and runs real smooth. There is also a wider variety of colors to choose from.
+ point for the letraset is, that it has three tips~!!! especially when you do really detailed work, it's kinda hard to color within the lines sometimes with copic's. The brush does have a better tip than letraset, but it also bends, so you have to hold the copic marker real straight, or you won't be able to put detail in your drawing.

Well, that's about it I guess~!!!

I LOVE your marker art. I always love how you color your stuff and make certain effects with markers. Hell, I'm a sucker for marker and watercolor art. xD;
I've been experimenting with Crayolas and I can get pretty decent stuff with them. But I really want to tryout the Prismacolor markers. Too bad I'll be out splurging money on old game systems + games, maybe even a Wii-mote so I can play my brother's Wii when he's not home. lmao xD

Thank you~!!! I'm a sucker myself too for marker & watercolor art. The coloring is always soooo soft *___*

Crayola's are also very interesting, but I can't work with them. It get's all smeary and dirty when I use em
haha, when my bro isn't home I play on his Wii also. Though I did have to buy my own wii-mote and nunchuk for it <.< Someday i'll buy a wii myself *____*

Ruby-of-Fire-II In reply to yuina19 [2007-04-23 23:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Yessss.... I fall in love with the soft colorssss. >ω<
Ha ha yeah, they have a tendancy to smear and stuff. I haven't done any big coloring projects with them but small doodles and pictures. I nearly killed someone when I saw they smudged my picture for that 100 theme challenge, but I fixed it by coloring in the background. xD;
Ha ha, I so want to play with him, especially in wii-sports. But he kind of lacks space in his room so in the end we'd probably end up beating the crap out of eachother for real. lol

Mischavie [2007-04-22 22:01:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm horrible with markers, period. However, if I were to buy a brand, it would definitely be copics. I use Copic pens for inking because they hardly smear or bleed, and I heard the markers are just like that, and blend really well, too. That, to me, sounds inticing! XDD I don't have the money for it, though. Have you tried Ebay? They sell copics for fair prices there, in my opinion anyway.

Aww! And if your art isn't great, then I don't know what it is. You're good with a lot of different mediums! I'm jealous, lol!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yuina19 In reply to Mischavie [2007-04-23 06:33:51 +0000 UTC]

Copic's are great!!! Copic sketch has a brush like tip wich is really soft. This way you can kinda get a watercolorish effect, and blend colors. You can't do that with the other brands (or at least not that effective), that's why I like copic's better.

I haven't looked at ebay yet, I might look into it~!!!!

You are to nice

Mischavie In reply to yuina19 [2007-04-26 23:54:21 +0000 UTC]

I definitely have to get copics... I just got my first pay check from work *Cha-Ching!* so hopefully I'll be able to spend something on myself (given that I have to save it for school and stuff, too ;o. :3

I'm going to go look on ebay now... since I'm a bargain shopper and all. XD *brick'd*

Someday i'ma gonna sit down for awhilw when i have nothin 2 do and learn how to marker color like this!! (it'll prolly take sum time) and then i'll try it with colored pencils! I've always admired people who can do this with markers and pencils. I guess i'm-a just lazy.

Shjaa, I don't know why they're so expensive. Makes me sad too, here they cost like € 7.50, that's like more than $10,- 0___o;;;; per marker <.< A well, photoshop is a great medium also~!!!!
And thanks much for the comment!!!

Aah~~!!
Really pretty ! ^^
Copics are really good in my opinion too.
The skin is lovely~~!!
May I ask how you got the lines brownish?
Edited, just really much strokes over the lineart or a special filling thing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yuina19 In reply to Saile-Chan [2007-04-22 19:33:54 +0000 UTC]

Well, getting the lineart brown is quite easy. Just buy a brown fineliner!!!! I've always wanted to use brown lines for traditional art, it only occured to me recently, that I can just buy a brown fineliner!!
