The Phaya Naga have been said to have venomous bites that can kill in a single bite and some land dwell, having hoods much like cobras.

It comes from the correlation between the King Cobra and Naga.

The great Naga King himself had a hood which protected the Buddha from the rain which also depicts him with more than one head.

The highest official of Phaya Naga have hoods or more than one head.
The common Phaya Naga are serpentine and spout balls of fire. They are usually green and sometimes red.
The land Phaya Naga lives in caves and tunnels, possessing potent venom and if one gets too close can die just by the scent.
Then theres the mix between the classic eastern dragons and Naga.
