From what I heard from Gaijin, he reminds me of those moss-covered robots from Castle in the Sky: instruments of war, long since abandoned for their intended purpose, developing compassion for the persistence of life around them. Cute little puppy on your head reminds me of Chibiterasu from Okami-Den.
