Well, it would be more truthful to say that she IS Amaranthe, in a way. Being in hiding, she entered the body of a mortal woman, wanting to hide in her stillborn child and giving life to it. But when she was born, the feeling of birth traumatised her enough to loose her past feelings, and by the time the angel's mind calmed down, the personality and life of Amaranthe was too big a part of her. Big enough to sometimes think that Afriel was only a dream she had.
Still, some of the angel's attributes still show in Amaranthe, giving her exceptional strength and much more experience than someone of only 23 years would have.
