Description Just copy work. I really like Keaton Henson; for people who don't know, he's an illustrator in England who is popular for drawing album cover art and shirt designs.

Just playing with textures some more really, they make pictures look 10 times better. I also liked the look of the coloured lines.

whoa, man, I really missed the freaky things you post on DA. ^^

not bad at all, It really does look like a faithful recreation of his art. I've seen some wicked skateboards with his art on them, don't know if they're officially drawn by him or they were just drawn in his style but they looked freaky cool none-the-less.

I see you're trying different things with the texturing now, I really like the fading on the bottom. Is that how the texture was or did you layer it so it would be faded?

I stuck the texture layer on top and set it to 'darken only.' Worked a lot cooler than multiply, which is what I'm used to using ;D

Anyway the boards are indeed by him! I've chatted to him and he is a kewl chap

Good to hear from ya by the way man!

yeah, I've seen the cool effect created by the darken setting. ^^ have you tried layering different texure layers on top of each other and setting different values to them? you can get something really wicked out of it. :]

and maybe I'll get my hands on one of them boards. I seem to need a new one anyways.

but yeh, glad to be back on DA. ^^

yeah I've been experimenting with textures for a while... they can really improve crappy drawings! There must be thousands of effects you can get with different textures layered on top of each other, I've done it a bit, but a lot of the time it looks messy
Anyway so you skateboard huh? I think I'd be too lazy

yeah, I use the board whenever I don't want to walk somewhere, other than that I bike to most places... but yeah it's true that a little texture work will enhance the graphics a hell of a lot. I'm still trying to come up with a fast way of adding them to the images.

I can't ride a bike either, man! >_<
How d'you mean add textures faster anyhows? Seems fairly quick!

eh? everyone can ride a bike, you just don't know you can. (uh... hope that made sense.) lol

yeah, it's fast to upload an image into a layer to use for texturing, but having to do that for several layers gets annoying, and even when you do upload all of them, there's no guarantee that they'll be the same size as your image so you might end up with a texture that is smaller than what you're working on and upscaling it would result in you loosing texture quality...

but I figured out a way to save the texture image to be used with the pattern painting tool the Gimp has, that way I can paint the texture image onto any sized project without having to worry about the quality of it being downgraded. This also allows me to be selective as to where I want one texture to cover the image while I select another one to cover another area, hence having different textured items in one image without having to go trough the painful steps of adding a layer mask.

well, it took me a bit to perfect this method but man does it ever work. so right now I don't have any complaints about uploading textures anymore.

ahhh right, I know what ya mean, I've had a go at that kind of method before, sounds like you're a lot better at it than I was! Kick-ass that you've got it nailed!

On DA all the texture stuff I've used is quite simple, but I do like the look of simply texturing the entire image, or just erasing where I don't want it. I've used cooler texture effects on other stuff, but they're for work so I don't think I can upload them >__<

yeah, whenever I'm working on a big image I use your technique as well, erasing small parts is a lot easier than painting the texture on big areas.

lousy work, always getting in the way... I swear I'll eliminate it somehow.

Man this convos been going for over a month!

Anyhow, try self employment! Means work is rarely in the way ;D

Actually don't, it doesn't pay well! What d'you do anyhow?
...if you don't mind saying on DA! >_<

ah I am a proud member of the industrial machine known as AMERICA, I proudly accept temporary work on any facility that produces all the wonderful AMERICAN products that consumers like to buy.

in other words, I'm a Temp working on different factories all the time. SAVE ME!
haha well, since I'm also taking a few classes I can only work a few days per week, so this is unfortunately the only work I managed to find so far. ^^

but classes are about to end again, and FINALLY I'll be able to get a job where I can work all week, no more of this Temp crap. :] Oh, hopefully I can get an internship now. ^^
