HISTORYLucas has always been emotionally sensitive and as a child, the littlest things either had him doubled over laughing or upset him to tears. He’d be constantly singled out and bullied for being a cry baby by the other children. Boys didn't cry so readily. He gradually learnt to suppress his emotional outbursts and instead perfected the serene smile he so often wears now. Over time he has built up a lot of barrier. It’s become a habit to mask everything with a smile.
However his childhood environment was an ideal one; running amuck green pastures with his family’s livestock. His descendants were British settlers of lower class citizens. His father would set him in his lap most nights and told him stories of pirates, goddesses and faraway lands. Though being a deeply grounded and realistic man he’d pepper in histories of war and how his family came to be.
He told of his father—Lucas’ grandfather—being an ANZAC, how tall and proud he stood against adversaries for his land and family with his life. He relayed the casualties wars brought, how one man’s word could falter millions and further millions left to ache in its wake.
He told stories of how the Miller family boarded that magnificent ship that promised new life! New land, higher hopes, no oppressive class systems. Through the gruelling six month naval journey tragically many didn’t survive and lowered to rest on sea beds. The Millers were strong and resilient, and that’s why you were able to be borne Lucas, he’d said, hold your head high, be strong, let none blow you down. Lucas’ heart surged with determination.
In his early teenage years rumours of WWIII were spiking and with it he heard of a military boarding academy where boys and girls alike were horned into remarkable soldiers to fight and defend for what they ground their bones into, what they believed in. He was deeply inspired and set his mind that he would attend this elite school. He took part of his father’s stock and tended to it until he harnessed enough means to enable him to board. His pacifist father belligerently opposed to it, losing his father in a war he was appalled Lucas would make the same decision. But his mind was set.
The only real notable traumatic experience for Lucas would be while he was still fairly young he secretly followed his father and neighbouring farmhands to an abattoir. So much blood, how could his merciful father wield a blade and hack away like a madman at the carcasses... Even to this day he’s slightly squeamish at the sight of blood but walked away with the lesson and motto; the gentleness of hearts needn't extend to the teeth.
Regarding the failed mission:
He’s aided in providing cover and protection of his peers during the mission. While dismayed at the destruction of the academy, he’s fixated on his shortcomings—sentiments faltering code of conduct—that nearly put his remaining teammates’ safety in jeopardy. Though instead of going about it by steeling his heart in professionalism, it has flared his determination in living up to his division—in protection of others and that he try harder to grasp the mechanics of defensive vehicles/equipment and strategies to eliminate such failures from manifesting.
PERSONALITYComposed---
He likes to give the image of a cool customer, level headed smooth young man in control. Generally he is quite calm and carries a pleasant slight smile on his face at most times. However if one is to try his patience (three strikes) he becomes rather reckless (enraged, willful, sarcastic). He hates his sensitivities that he can’t keep in check and tries hard to filter out anything that would make him look less than serene and collected.
Childish---
Despite the demeanour, he has a childish almost immature mind set. Physical inconveniences such as being too hungry/hot diminishes his patience and becomes close to cranky hostile and offensive. A big brat playing at acting like an adult.
Perceptive---
In a group dynamic he's rather quiet and more likely to be skirting the outer circles and observe. He tends to be slow in grasping the situation and as he doesn't wish to reveal himself the fool, remains quiet with smile in place. Where his intellect fails, his gut instinct provides.
Stubborn---
Though completely willing to obey and comply with his superiors, if an order is given and it weighs on his conscience he won’t raise his voice but opts for a silent rebellion. He means well and will extend his help regardless if they need/want for it. Coupled with this and his willfulness of wanting things to go his way makes him infuriating at times.
Easily gained the nickname "Unhelpful Help".
Devious---
He mightn’t look it but Lucas has a mischievous, domineering streak in him. He’s made a hobby out of pushing and teasing people underhandedly. He never means to harm or hurt but their reactions amuse him. Enjoys toying with people but despises being messed with... a hypocrite really.
Other than that, he’s quite easy-going, a bit awkward but likes being in company of, and being friendly with others. Over the course of the previous year he's befriended kind, understanding buds and more... challenging acquaintances both of which has helped him more readily reveal his genuine smile and self.
