*The day before at Dirk’s apartment*

“Don’t you think you were a little harsh on (Name)?” Roxy asked. She was a little less drunk now.

“It was the right thing to do,” I said. “She would have gotten hurt if I hadn’t done something.”

“I know…” Roxy looked at the ground.

“This would be so much easier if I wasn’t a demon.” Roxy looked up at me again.

“Well why don’t you just tell her how you feel?” She asked.

“For what reason. She’ll just reject me,” I said with a solemn face. “And even if she doesn’t I could never drag her down to hell with me.”

Roxy didn’t say anything; she just looked to the ground. “What’s done is done Roxy. Now are you going to help or not?”

“What choice do I have? I can’t let you die just yet.”

I didn’t sleep all night. Not that I really needed to anyways. I just couldn’t stop thinking about (Name). I sat up in my bed and ran my hands through my hair. Maybe I was to harsh on her, I thought. There was still no way I was going to let (Name) come with me. But maybe I should apologize to her. I was just about to pick up my phone when it started to ring.

“Hello? Yes Jane? I’ll be right over.” Dirk hung up the phone and got ready to leave.

“Thanks for coming Dirk” Jane said. I was just about to open my mouth when Jane spoke again. “Look I don’t want to talk about what happened yesterday. I’m still upset about that, but right now my main priority is keeping you alive. I’ve got some gear lined up for you in the meeting room.” Jane turned on her heel and stalked out of the room.

I slipped the protective charm around my neck and tucked it under my shirt. It was the last item I would need to help me tonight. Along with the charm I had my katana and some blood tablets to reenergize me. Tonight was the night. It would be a lie to say that I wasn’t nervous. I kinda wished that I had (Name) with me. She would have told me to relax.

“Don’t worry Dirk. We’re a team and we’ll make it through together.”

I looked around the room looking for the voice before realizing that it was just in my head.

“I’m sorry (Name).”

The hotel on 41st street sure did look abandoned. I knew though that that wasn’t the case. Somewhere in the hotel was the infamous Lord English. Something was bothering me though. My body tingled and every hair felt as though it was on end. I scanned the windows and noticed that one of the windows on the 5th floor was broken. Now on any other abandoned building this wouldn’t have looked out of place, but seeing as the place wasn’t exactly abandoned it worried me.

I decided to fly up to the window to the 5th story. As I landed on the windowsill something in the center of the room caught my eye. On the floor lay a long white staff. I hopped into the room and picked up the staff. There were no markings on it and I was just about to put it down as I hit a button and it transformed into a tube of eyeliner. My eyes widened in shock. It was (Name)’s. I ran franticly through the door at the opposite side of the room. The whole floor was empty. I ran back into the room in which I had come from. Standing in the middle of the room was a tall lady dressed all in black.

“Snowman” I growled at the lady.

She spun around to face me. “Ah Dirk. Have you finally come to join our ranks?” Snowman asked.

“Give (Name) back” I growled again this time brandishing my sword.

“Your sweet little angel? You’ll have to go find her yourself. Although I’d hurry if I were you.” With that Snowman disappeared into the shadows.

“Fuck…” I swore. I spun around back towards the door only to find an elevator in it’s place. “Looks like I’m going up.”

*Wake up as (Name)*

My head felt heavy. I opened my eyes to find myself in a dark room. I went to move only to find that I was being held up with ropes. There was a source of light coming from behind me, which I slowly realized were my wings, held up much the same way the rest of me was. I struggled for a moment but the ropes would not give.

A door opened across from me and the room was flooded with light. “I see the little angel has awoken.” A voice called from the door. As my eyes adjusted I could make out a silhouette. “Well now that your awake I suppose I should reveal myself.”

The silhouette walked forward until he was standing in the ring of light around me. In front of me stood a rather short man with jet-black hair. He wore a black shirt with with green pants held up by lime green suspenders. A lime green mask covered his face.

The man lifted his mask up. “I am Lord English.”

I didn’t mean it really. But I couldn’t help it. I laughed, really hard. Behind the mask was the cutest little face I’d ever seen. Not to mention he had bright red eyes.

“How dare you laugh! I am Lord English!!! I could destroy you with a simple touch if I wanted to!” He yelled.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I just wasn’t expecting the infamous Lord English to be, well, so small” I managed to get out between giggles.

“You will regret this decision!” Lord English yelled again.

“Ya, ya shortie,” I couldn’t help take the guy seriously. “Now will you let me down from here?”

“You see that isn’t an option. If I’m to take over throw the Agency I’ll need the power of an angel. And who better than the descendant of the most ancient demon hunters.” I thrashed about harder in my bonds. “No matter how hard you try you won’t be able to break those bonds,” Lord English stated with a wave of his hand.

“Dirk will come!” I yelled back. “He’ll come and save me. You won’t get away with this!”

Now it was Lord English’s turn to laugh. “Sure, sure. I suppose I’ll leave you for now. Have fun waiting for your demon to come save you.” And with that he left me bound in the middle of the room.
