It depends on the fanfiction, really. It's a recommended piece. Starts out light and fluffy, then gets darker as it goes on.
If you're a Touhou fan, then you should, at the least, read Reinterpretation of Scarlet Devil by Usually Dead. ^^ It's mindboggling.
