To recognize his second victory over the Germanic tribes in 182, Commodus honorary name of Germanicus was chanced into Germanicus Maximus, the great Germanic triumphator. To celebrate his victory he chose a selection of young male Germanic captives to become a part of his household. Since Nero’s times Germanic youths were well known for their athletic built and handsome features. Commodus showed a special interest in a particular beautiful blond boy he had spotted in the ranks of the Germanic warriors, who as supposed to be the son of a chieftain. When the chieftains had to surrender to the demands of the young emperor, Commodus addressed the father of the boy, announcing: “I expect you to hand over those fine sons of you. Be sure I will take care personally to deflower the young one and fuck him thoroughly until he sighs like a pig.”

Once enlisted to his household, the young Germanic boy was made Commodus’ intimate slave, having to provide him satisfaction both in the imperial bedchamber, but also publicly, such as on the imperial lodge in the circus, during the games Commodus ordered. He often decided on the lives of a gladiator, based on the orgasm his servus had provided him. Being addressed as Hercules, Commodus found it only natural his young lover was renamed according to the Greek myths.
