This is an OC I came up with a few weeks ago. I didn't truly know what I wanted to do with her at the time, but after some thinking around, I think I got something.

Meet Flow the Tenrec. A research experiment created over 50 years ago as the "Ultimate Lifeform" in an alternative scenario. In this already mentioned scenario, Not only Black Doom's DNA was used in the making of the finalized version of "Project Shadow", but also Wisp DNA, meaning Hyper-go-on energy was involved in the creation of Flow.

Now, sit down and let me tell you more about this little concept of mine.
(It has probably been done already, but shh. Shadow FCs are cool.)

Quick Bio

In this different timeline (or universe, whatever you wanna call it really), the help from the alien leader of the Black Arms was never considered by Gerald Robotnik himself when working in the project, as he had discovered another type of extraterrestrial beings first, way before the Black Comet. After studying those otherworldly entities, he discovered that they can produce massive and powerful energy source titled "Hyper-go-on". Fascinated with this discovery, he and his team attempted to use some of those alien creatures to create a more advanced version of the prototype of the Ultimate Lifeform. But things did not go as planned, as a creature created with Hyper-go-on energy was proven to not be possible time and time again, with every prototype letting out outbursts of power in powerful shock waves that proven to be lethal to the creature.

During development, the Black Comet was discovered. A comet that passed the earth every 50 or so years. "Home" of the Black Arms. Gerald had a theory that a DNA sample from the monstrous creatures that inhabited the comet could potentially counter the effects of the Wisp energy used, meaning the project could finally be a success. As such, he made contact with the comet. With Black Doom's blood, all the energy, that was once uncontrollable to the prototypes, was manifested into a ring-like gem which was titled "the Velocity Gem". A gem capable of not only suppressing the Wisp energy, but also grants the user a variety of speed based abilities with the cost of tiring the user to the point of extreme fatigue if it's pushed to its limit. The blood of the Black Arms' leader was also injected into the final prototype in order for it to withstand any sort of Hyper-go-on energy, should it get in contact with it in the future. After years of work and research, Project Shadow was finally completed.

Being created mainly from Wisp DNA, Flow's color scheme takes inspiration from the progenitor of the entire Wisp race, Mother Wisp, but instead of her fur being a vibrant color, it takes a more faded and rather dull coloration due to the influence of Black Doom's DNA. Her gem's color is also influenced by Black Doom's blood pigmentation, being green in nature. The name "Flow" came from Gerald's granddaughter Maria, who named the little tenrec girl after her speed. As she described her to be "Flowing in the wind", thanks to the Velocity Gem's abilities.

Her species, tenrec, comes from the Super Sonic murals from ancient Angel Island. Gerald took inspiration from the being depicted in those murals, but decided to add a little flair to it. Thus, designing Flow to be a tenrec instead of a hedgehog. Her shoes are loosely based on Shadow's Rocket Shoes, but it works in a similar manner as the Hover wisp by slightly levitating Flow off the ground when skating. The bracelets' lights on her shoes and left hand indicates if there's something wrong with her. They can be constantly lit up to indicate that everything is fine, blinking for the opposite reasons (I.e if Flow is physically hurt or extremely exhausted), or just plain out turned off (when she is in her suspended animation state). Whoever, the bracelets are nothing more than a cosmetic accessory, as they do not affect Flow in any way, shape or form.

Even though she posses a variety of chaos moves (due to her "Ultimate Lifeform" status), Flow's main source of power is notoriously the Velocity Gem. It can provide her several skills that are available to Sonic's and Shadow's arsenal. Such skills include:

Extreme speed;
The Spin Jump;
The Spin Dash;
The Rolling Attack;
The Homing Attack;
A (weaker) variation of the Boost.

Despite all of this, the gem can be considered as limiting, as it doesn't provide any sort of Light Speed abilities and it cannot properly replicate the Boost without being pushed to its absolute limit.

Flow is sharp-witted, competitive, stubborn, arrogant and never backs down from a challenge, no matter what. Although, she has a soft, selfless and kind side and deeply cares about her friends.

Proudly referring to herself as not only "the Ultimate Lifeform", but as "the fastest creature in the face of the planet" (due to the Velocity Gem), Flow feels herself challenged after crossing paths with a certain blue hedgehog, who's known to be "the fastest thing alive". This has caused her to bump heads with Sonic the Hedgehog several times to prove herself superior, but we all know who ended up on top in the end. Even though these defeats got in her nerves due to her nature, she couldn't help but find respect and extreme admiration for the spiky blue hero and, due to her stubbornness, she usually gets herself into some "friendly competitions" with the blue blur, always opting to prove herself as the fastest.
Because of her willful identity, the so called "fastest creature" has shown herself pushing her power source to the absolute limit in several occasions, nearly blacking out in most of said instances (due to the already mentioned side effect).

Phew, I think I got out most of the things I wanted to say about her. Took me a while to write all of this, but yeah!
Oh, yeah, just a little trivia here: Her ring gem used to be pink (as seen here: twitter.com/yusonin/status/130… (oops, shameless plug, but you can check the rest of my Twitter to find her earlier design. Trust me, you'll find it easily)), but I changed it to green, because it was more fit for her color scheme and, coincidentally, is the color the Black Creature's blood.
Her eyes also glow green when she's using or is about to use the gem's powers.

I'm really looking forward to do more stuff with her, so I hope she made a good first impression!
