Description Papercraft Sakura! I tried to use fairly different patterns from theΒ previous time I made her , which was a fun exercise. (Still used several sakura-patterned papers, though, because of course.) This one sold at Anime Midwest back in July.

She's Sakura, the protagonist of CLAMP's "Cardcaptor Sakura" series! It's a really cute series. ^_^

I looked it up on MAL. It looks quite old school - I prefer your version, although I'll probably give the series a watch.

Haha, it's a bit old by this point, but it's a classic! The sequel series is also currently airing, and it looks gorgeous.

Perfect paper for her. ^^ The ribbons are a particularly lovely combination of colours. She has such a bright expression! <3

Thank you! It's always fun to make the same piece with different patterns and see how the feel of the results differ. ^_^

They combination of patterns works well for both versions. It's also cool that you have so many different sakura-patterned papers! If you don't mind me asking, how many different papers in total do you have?

No, I can't have hit a thousand yet. Hundreds, then.

Do you usually buy bigger sized paper? Like A2?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yutaan In reply to Riemea [2017-09-01 01:56:03 +0000 UTC]

I have all kinds of sizes! A lot are A2-sized, since that can be found in a lot of specialty stores, but they run the gamut from larger than that down to some that are only a few inches square. Β

That sounds nice! I kind of collect craft paper but never do anything with it - I'm always afraid I'll ruin the paper.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yutaan In reply to Riemea [2017-09-12 18:56:37 +0000 UTC]

Aww, try it! Papercraft is super fun! If you're worried about wasting paper, you could maybe get some spare cheap sheets and build mock-ups of stuff first?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Riemea In reply to Yutaan [2017-12-01 16:07:42 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually working on something papercrafty right now! Thanks for the tip with mock-ups, that's what I'm doing and it's working very well.

Riemea In reply to Yutaan [2017-12-17 15:21:42 +0000 UTC]

Can I ask what kind of glue you're using? I only have liquid glue right now but I'm a bit afraid that it'd seep through the paper or squish out on the sides

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yutaan In reply to Riemea [2017-12-17 20:54:44 +0000 UTC]

I use paper cement and rubber cement - whichever is on sale at the nearby art supply store. (I know there must be some sort of difference between them, but I've never honestly never noticed much of one.) They both dry flexible and nearly clear, which is helpful if you don't want any glue to be visible on your final piece, and excess glue can also be carefully peeled off the piece once you're done. On the downside, they can yellow with age and stain the paper unless you keep the final piece airtight.

Good luck!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Riemea In reply to Yutaan [2018-03-08 15:57:43 +0000 UTC]

I've never heard of that kind of glue. I didn't find anything like it at the art supply store I usually go to, but I did find a glue that dries transparently. It's been working well on the mock-ups I've been doing so I'm going to test it on my first real papercraft work soon.
Thanks for the help!

This might be a weird question, but do you have a FAQ somewhere?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yutaan In reply to Riemea [2018-03-15 02:14:39 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you found a good transparent glue! And good luck on your upcoming papercraft work; that's so exciting!

I don't have an FAQ, per se, but I do have the "askbox" tag on my tumblr -->[yutaan.tumblr.com/tagged/askbo… I tend to get similar questions a lot, so I suppose that's sort of like an FAQ.Β

Thanks for the link, going through the tag has been very helpful!

I'm not sure which Sakura I like better! I feel like the gold in her hair from the previous piece gives her more depth, while she seems a little more flat in this one, but I do love the patterns for clothing more. Great work!
