Nekota and Ai from Arina Tanemura's βNeko to Watashi no Kinyoubi!β This series turned out to not really be my thing, unfortunately, but I doodled this while reading the first few chapters and liked the sketch enough to finish it. It was a lot of fun playing around with the patterns in the background!

Yeah, I was kinda bummed that it was so very much Not My Cup Of Tea, since I do love Tanemura's art and have enjoyed a lot of her other series. But I am actually super happy with how this came out! I think the patterns ended up working nicely - it retains more of a handmade feel than when I try incorporating them into my digitally-colored stuff.

Have you seen the drawings she did of the Sailor Moon ladies? Or the Madoka Ladies?! They're all so beautiful!!
And yes, I think so~ ^^ It has that nice, slight irregularity of something handmade in the patterns. Your colouring has a very natural feel too.

I was scratching my head because Arina Tanemura is my favorite mangaka and I was wondering why this sounded so familiar...I looked at the cover, then the epiphany, "ah, right, it's that one with the younger boy who has a crush on the girl!" I think I read the first volume or something....

Yeah, I've enjoyed a lot of Arina Tanemura's series, so it was a shame that this one... really skeeved me out, to be honest. Β -__-; Β But Gentlemen's Alliance was great! Full Moon O Sagashite is my personal favorite. I bought the artbook recently, too. Sooo pretty~
