It's interesting to see you talk about this, 'cause I've always been terribly creeped by human pregnancy and etc (though I love babies from other animals and obviously wouldn't ever hurt a kid). But since most people love babies and tend to see pregnancy as a woman's duty, I hardly find someone who empathizes with this feeling.
Really interesting and beautiful drawing, as always. Love all the symbolism you use in them.

A baby or fetus in this case actually does have a tail but it becomes our tail bone as we grow.

The picture is great, but its hard to stare at without the whole idea of having something like that in my uterus (I've always had that problem, I'm probably never gonna become a mother, I hate the idea of pregnancy and I kinda like the idea of living alone). The picture reminds me of the lobe-finned fish(even though the fish drawn don't resemble the species) because that's where all vertebrates came from. (PLEASE DON"T SHOOT ME CREATIONISTS I"M NOT IN THE MOOD FOR ONLINE WARS FOR I AM RETIRING FROM ONLINE WARMONGERING, FOR NOW XD)

I had similar ideas to yours, minus the baby phobia part, and it made a lot of ...problems and drama for me in high school because no one else agreed with me. And in that high school, since almost everyone was religious and conservative, I even LOST friends... It was really a traumatizing experience for me, so from then on, I learned not to talk about my beliefs about controversial topics like these. I just can't deal with the backlash. Good for you for being strong enough to talk about your own feelings and ideas and problems with people around the world, without being afraid.

*shudders* Stupid morbid brain wanting to look at stuff I just knew was going to creep me out. I sympathize for those who can't give birth (but want to) but I'm kinda the same way about the baby issue. I think Sims 2 babies are cute but often don't share the same feeling for real human babies. Even though I've had the rare "I want to have a baby" thing and have thought about how I might raise a child / what life might be like for me if I had children.....More often than not I am glad I don't have children.

I don't really empathize with a lot of things, though not necessarily because I'm scared of them. It's kind of hard to explain, so I just leave it at that I don't really have an opinion on the subject. To be honest I'd rather not have a kid myself, as I kind of find the actual ordeal gross and painful, no matter what the result is.

but how could you be afraid of babies? innocent, younger and open versions of us all. the whole purpose of all humans everywhere is to have a family, to live and create! to be a woman, so much better! to experience it 100 times more

... To be woman? What is this, 17th century Britain? Life is not lived one way, and one gender should not be limited to one way of living. I know a woman who said she regrets having children, they traumatized her in every way.
Some people find real accomplishments worthwhile, not the fulfilling of the function of the human reproductive system.

maybe, but some people feel differently. Plus, if that's all humans were meant to do, we might as well just keep doing the same things over and over again, after-all, it would suffice.

I cannot say I know how you feel (seeing how I actually adore infants and the thought of pregnancy fills me with joy rather than fear and disgust), but I see what you are accomplishing in this piece. It's very deep and I do wish I understood your phobia. Like some have said, the fact you don't want to have children might better the world. We are overpopulated. Either way, I love these pieces.

i completly agree with you, except that i will take the risk to get pregnant as i am curious to see how our genes ( mine and my man's ones ofc) can mix and what could result from it >.>
if it wasn't cuz of my curiosity, i would never do that... i hate the idea to be parasited <.<

i get where u are coming from. Your artworks are amazing by the way. I don't have a phobia of babies, but i can understand your confusion as to why u don't feel sympathy. I have, i know this is kidda stupid, but a fear of the dark, and i hate it that i can't relate to people who are prefectly find with it. This may not be coming out the way i want it to, but i understand (for the record) and your artworks are amazing

I love the art work. It is something that I have used as an example of why I spend so much time on DevArt. However, the most interesting part to me was your author's comment. I completely sympathize with your feelings on human infants/fetuses and such. I have similar feelings, though by no means the same, but it's sort of weird, because they contradict each other. I possess, at best, no desire to become pregnant whatsoever, but recently, have been more interested in the idea of mother a child....It's like...I feel I might, one day, be able to be a mother, but not in the biological sense. I don't know how to explain this without sounding like a complete freak...yeah..

Huh!
I feel very thought-provoked XP
I 've heard (read) repeatedly that human-kinds obsession with infants is apparently unique (to a species- I'm aware that indiviuals often do weird things, like adopt a prey species). Even tadpoles -and fish- get cooed over. But whilst all these sources have gone 'and this is really quite strange' none have ever offered an answer
but is it- well, humans, even, contrary to popular belief, tribal humans, have had a massive destructive influence on ecologies, to the point were it was 'live in harmony or DIE'. So it make sense that groups could have been selected for this view of other species' offspring as cute; otherwise, they'd hunt them cos they were easier to get at, and hut their way out of existance.
Which I pulled out of your statement 'does to perpetuate our own kind mean JUST humans?'
That is an excellent question, worth much consideration, and thank you for putting it where people can see and muse on it
