Night Version
This image was inspired by a free Breadley Manning protest I participated in. We were a small group of about 20-30 peaceful protesters met by an overkill of riot police. We dissipated peacefully to avoid arrest but the image of facing against a roll of riot police remained in my mind.
For those not familiar with Bradley Manning, he was the one who leaked the Collateral Murder video to Wikileaks. The video details the slaughter of innocent Iraqi civilians and journalists by American soldiers. Amongst the injured were 2 children whose father was killed. When the journalists' families asked about how they were killed, they were lied to. For revealing the true casualties of war, Manning was put into solitary confinement and tortured without trial. That's gotta suck, coming from your own family. That's basically the same as them disowning you, if you think about it. Or at least that's how I see it. I wouldn't do that to any member of my family just because they lived in a country that I didn't like (granted, I will say I'm not exactly proud of my French roots from my mother's mother's side...you know, the whole WWII thing with them handing over their Jews to Germany. Yeah. Not proud of that. One of my best friends is Jewish). But anyway, you know, no hating going on here. I am perfectly tolerant of homosexuals and bisexuals -- just don't put them in my manga and we'll be fine -- because a lot of my friends are bisexual. I just don't like it when the media crams it down my throat. So yeah, rights for homos and bis will not be affecting my voting side, unlike a lot of people (I heard a lot of people voted for Obama just because he promised marriage rights for homosexuals. I don't think that's a good way to go).
Anyway, I just hope people will look back on this period and learn from their mistakes, because that's why history keeps repeating itself: assholes don't listen!

Yeah, they all love me, I know that for sure. They just don't agree with the fact that I'm living here and that I have, in fact, dreamed of joining the Navy. However, my eyes are really opening to the harm that America is doing in other countries. I used to think that what we were fighting for was right, but I think it would be better if the United States remained the way it did during the beginning of World War I - out of everyone else's business. If the government is going to insist on playing "police" then they might as well do it right. There are inhumane things going on in Africa and yet we aren't concerned with it because Africa has nothing to offer us. Now, I'm not into politics or anything like that, so my facts may be a slight bit shady, but, y'know... I said what I could. Haha

Yeah, we need to stop gettin' all up in everybody else's bizz. No one interferred with our civil war, we don't need to interferre with Syria's. Now I know why no one ever hears anything from Canada; they don't go stirring up shit with everyone else. The Canadians are doin' it right. The world would just be a whole lot better off if every country had its own planet, in the infamous words of Barney from The Simpsons. Yeah, I don't really pay attention to politics much; I'm not old enough to vote yet.

the governments and pharmaceutical/military organisations are not peaceful...

This reminds me more of "Live to Rise" by Soundgarden. I know so many songs that would go with this comic, it's just overwhelming. But yeah, Skillet's "Rise" would work, too.

I love your work and was revisiting pieces, and wanted to comment. I think your night scene version is more powerful in terms of color. But I like this one more because of the emotion it carries, the situation feels so real - you did such a great job with the rain, the feeling I get from it is like when I go for a run in the morning and it starts to rain. Great contrast with something so pleasant as rain in daylight and the riot police, it really adds to the tension and emotion.

Nice Picture! But who brings his kids to a war zone anyway. Plus, the soldiers saw people with AKs and werent sure about one having an RPG. American soldiers nearby had been shot at, so, the decision to engage wasnt too far off! I wouldnt call this slaughter! Im sorry to write this here but I just had to get this out.
