Description I idly started sketching Marvel Comics' Squirrel Girl the other day. I don't even know why, I guess she just invaded my headspace and refused to leave. Subsequently this has been one of the strangest and most frustrating pictures I've drawn in a while, redrawn several times over with the exception of her face which I seemed to get down pretty quickly. The resulting drawing is full of flaws but I can't bring myself to work on her anymore. She's so much fun as a character, there's no way a drawing of her should be such serious business.
In the end I settled on a stripped-down Art Nouveau style pose and composition just for the sheer oddness of it; I don't think anyone's ever presented miss Doreen Green in such a way.

I took some liberties with her costume, so the odd fluffy sweater-vest thing she was originally designed with is now more of a fluffy 'kini, but she's still wearing the grey catsuit (squirrelsuit?) underneath. Tippy-Toe probably went through more revisions than SG herself...
