The Canadians were British back then, just like in 1774.
Today's Canada back then were many colonies collectively called British North America, and the word Canada it's self only applied to the colonies of Upper and Lower Canada, which are now the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. All Canadian soldiers were part of the British army except for the colonies militias XDD Great Britain was very preoccupied with the Napoleonic war they were having with France (which kinda started 1812), so they weren't involved as much as they would of been. It was more of a mix of British British and Canadian British.
In fact, we were still considered British troops by you yanks up until after World War II (we'd achieved confederation in 1867 [which means the colonies united, we got our own constitution, and became a country under the distinct but still connected to the crown], became even almost fully independent after WWI, and finally cut ties and got our own foreign policy in 1982, though we still share the monarchy).
Americans were extremely reluctant to recognize us as an actual country to the point that you literally walked out the League of Nations when we refused to leave it (... you were a little sore over not annexing us like you did Texas and turning us into one of your states, we think).
Which explains why you never give us any credit for any of the wars we've fought in with you.
Like anyplace, American history is very biased towards your side, and if you ask ANYONE on any side of this particular war you'll get completely different stories, the Canadians being completely ignored.
...Wow, sorry, I didn't mean to vomit that all out onto the page XDD I'M A GIANT HISTORY FAN CAN YOU TELL???

BUT! I think i learned more from that than i would a day in history.... lol. Man. if we had you guys as a state that'd just... ionno, i guess we'd be the biggest country in the world right? But that's really stupid. I always thought american history was retarded, just attacking the british and whatnot. i like ZE FRENCH better, lol.... their revolution was SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING than ours! THEN MY JOB HERE IS DONE :: WIPES OFF THE BRAIN MATTER AND FLIES AWAAAAYYYYYYYyyy...::
That's what our history books say X3
You tried to take over the entirety of the North American continent, actually. Can you believe Texas used to be it's own country? That's probably why it's so big state wise XD MANIFEST DESTINY, AMERICA, DREAM BIG!!
Actually, if it wasn't for the American Revolution there's a chance that there wouldn't of been a French Revolution, or one as violent, because of the money problems it caused the French and because of how it inspired the French peasents to create a republic of their own.
Canada's a Constitutional Monarchy (which means we have an elected parliment AND a King/Queen) and our monarch is Queen Elizabeth II of Britain. And when she dies, the new King will be our king as well (it's gonna be so weird not seeing the Queen's face on a loonie). In fact, our national anthem used to be God Save the Queen, too, and our flag used to be a British red ensign until the seventies. WE'RE SUCH MOMMA's BOYS.
