Carved out of rock, this great sculpture commemorates the 1821 heroic act by the Swiss guards who defended the Tuileries Palace in Paris against insurgent forces, during the French Revolution.

awww... its so sad. poor lion, the expression on his face says it all. He looks like whoever wounded/killed him also broke his heart by doing it. great piece!
