First of all, I have to say this amazing work. I had to study it really close, because, at first, I thought it was a black and white photo pasted on a red background.

So in other words, your painting skills are convincing.
I can't pretend to know much about pop art, but I think there is a little to much light on her chest and it is a little to dark on the right arm.
I also wish there were some kind of shadow, because, as I said it looks like a cut out and paste picture.
But for all I know it's meant to be that way...

As I said, your painting skills are very convincing. You do a lot of details and they are really good. On the dress there is very good use of shading, I like that.
I also like the fact that not all of the face is showing. And I like the way she bites the perls.

The way you use the background is very interesting. The red color makes the painting really stand out and makes that more visible.

All in all, you did an amazing job! Keep it up

firstly, thank you very much for taking the time to look at my work. it is very much appreciated
i can see what u mean in regards to the lighting issue. the brightness of the chest was intentional so as to softly show the detail of the 'lacey' part of the dress. but yes, i think ive used a little too much shadow on the arm too.
The last couple of my works are intended to be an extension of stencil street graffiti, i wanted to make it seem like a sprayed stencil, but with a heap more dimension on closer inspection, so i guess that kinda explains the cut out look. I understand what you mean though, if i put a shadow it would really help the subject seem to have more of a place in relation to the background. i think for the last few (and next few) i'll stick will the obscure context they seem to sit within. however i think in the future when i get around to it, id love to use shadows in interesting ways, so thankyou very much for the suggestion, you have my mind ticking over
thanks heaps again

Wow, how great to see pop art on a traditional medium. I was gonna not even look at this because I thought it was digitally made. But I'm glad I clicked anyway

Really?
The reason I usually don't like it, is that it seems so well..boring. Your art is far from boring though.

i guess most ppl see it as boring too... just everyday simple stuff.
although i cannot put my work under the category, im very influenced by stencil street art. you should check some of it out, you mite be into it

I just googled it and I definitely see the similarities between your art and stencil art.

It's interesting stuff. I've never tried stenciling, maybe I should put some art on my bedroom walls huh?

if u wanna do walls, the best thing is a overhead projector, those ones u probably had at school. print out a transparency with the pic u want on it, project it onto the wall and colour it in

I really like this! Saw it on the forum and it really caught my eye, along with the other two similar pieces you linked great job! The detail on the dress is impressive, and like the critique above said, the painting looks like a photo at first glance, which is always a good thing!
