The second Woody design (started circa 1944 and refined by Fred Moore in 1947) is very well balanced and handsomely drawn, but ive always preferred the original Ghoulish design--it's very funny looking and much better suited to Woody's personality--full of wacky appeal, which makes it perfectly suited for a comedy character like Woody. The third design is too generic--it's just stock cute, with neither the sardonic appeal of the first design nor the finesse and slickness of the Fred Moore design.

I like the first two designs. I love the 1940 design because it's cartoony and and he looks crazy. The 1947 look is good because it's perfectly designed and and very easy for animators to move. Great work.

I'm with you. '47 Woody is the best. He's still a little psycho, but not frightening to look at like '40 Woody. I really don't care much for modern Woody.

Well figures!
I like to draw all new Woody woodpeckers!

You drew the 1957 Woody better than whoever did the original drawing.
