Battle of Odonan Prime, the last battle of Federation-Odonan war. War which started two years earlier with Odonan navy attacking multiple Federation colonies in Terminus sector including bases and ships. During that time Odonan Empire was ruled by tyrannical autocracy government. Its leader Emperor Zardar the II used iron hand during its reign. Seeing everyone non Odonans as second or even third class citizens, seeing everyone outside as potential enemies (with exception of Breen with who Odonan Empire had suprisigly good relationship). Thot Gor of the Breen Confederacy was doing secret deals with Odonans since 2376. It is his influence that would portrait Federation as invaders in eyes of Zardar the second. This Breen influence over the Odonan emperor would eventually be the catalyst that would start the war. Thot Gor knew that Odonan Empire alone cannot win against Starfleet, however he believed that this may actually keep Federation attention of the Breen Confederacy.

Thot Gor wanted vengeance since Breen defeat at the end of Dominion war where, Breen as part of Dominion were forced to sign peace with Federation and its allies. Breen Confederacy joined Dominion in order to spread their influence and conquer more territories over the Alpha quadrant. This never happened and Breen lost a lot. Will Thot Gor tried to form anti-Federation alliance with Hydran and Lyran Empire and enigmatic T'Kihin Hive, this end in failure after only one year. T'Kihin Hive were not interested in conquest of others as they had their own agendas somewhere else, and Hydran and Lyran empires end fighting once again among themself, leaving only the Breen. Breen navy was no match for Starfleet, especially as their energy dampening weapons no longer have any effect on Starfleet ships.

Odonan Empire was quite disfuncitonal and unstable due constant rebellions against tyrannical government and this was what Thoth Gor didnt take when he sign the deal with Odonans. Thanks to Breen intelligence, highly suspicious toward anyone, seen this as big threat to him and his empire. Thanks to Gor's skillfull portrait of Federation, Zardar save Federation as invaders into the Kalentha (Terminus) sector. First attack on Federation ships happen during the 2379, these were surgical strikes which often left no survivors. Those that did survived would report attacks from unknown ships. But even Starfleet could not counter this attackers and in series of skirmishes would lost handful of ships. It was not until 2380 that Odonan Empire attack for real, in mass all over their borders with the sector. War which would last for two full years would be concentrated only in Terminus sector.

While Odonans did progress well during the first year and Starfleet was on retreat, it wasnt until arrival of USS Atlantis NCC-65052-A under command of Commodore Matthias Arnheim, a hero of Dominion war and master tactician. With blessing of Admiral James Carrell he took control of Terminus forces and re-aranged them to counter massive threat from Odonan Empire. One year later Odonan Empire was on retreat, not because of Arnheins/Stafleet victories but due heavy rebellion inside the Odonan Empire, as Odonans lose, more rebellions started, more crews dezerted and more join to so called Free Odona navy.

Free Odonan Navy would work with Starfleet to remove Emperor Zardar from throne and to re-establish democratical nation that Odona was once was. October the 7th of 2382, joint Starfleet - Free Odonan Navy engage Imperial Odonan navy guarding the Odona prime over the planet, after another Starfleet battlegroup lured the mainstary of the Odonan navy away, battlegrou under command of Admiral James Carrell and Commodore Matthias Arnheim engaged Imperial forces over the planet. In two hours of intensive battle, Imperial fleet was defeated, and rebel forces manage to land and after bloody battles take the palace where Emperor was hidding. While Zardar did tried to flee, he was captured and eventually executed. Imperial navy surrenderd all over and new provincial government would be chosen until real elections are in order.

Starfleet perform brilliantly during the battle despite been 5-1 ratio, however battlegroup lost 24 ships (23 ships lost, one was retired after the battle). 23 ships from 96 that participate in battle and this was actually good ratio if its taken in account that Starfleet had 96 ships, Free Navy had 102 and Odonan Imperial fleet had 572. The fact that rebel Odonans and Starfleet marines manage to land and take the palace and arresting the emperor was what actually stopped the fight but also the mutinies on number of ships in orbit. There was another fleet of Starfleet ships counting some 70 or so that was on approach after bypassing the mainstary of Odonan imperial fleet. Starfleet had around 200 ships in the sector in total at this point and more ships was sent to reinforce the sector.

Despite the losses, Free Odonan Navy and Starfleet were victorious. With emperor dead and those under his command either dead or imprissioned Odonan Empire transformed into Odonan Republic. 20 years later in 2402 Odonans would join Federation. Starfleet Command offer promotion to the Commodore Arnheim however he rejected. It wont be before 2390 that he will receive promotion to rank of admiral and this time he took the promotion he would however remain in command of Atlantis.

During later part of war, link between Odonans and Breen become quite clear, enough evidence were maded to accuse Breen, short war would started between Federation and Breen in 2383-2384 and later in 2391 after Breens start raid camapign against Federation but would both times be defeated and forced to sign peace treaty, second time greatly limiting their space capabilities.
