Description Just like the title says, this is my first poser animation ever. I learned a lot from it, especially how hard it is to keep track of the timing as you can't see the actual animation speed until you make a test animation movie. (or you have a computer that can handle real time in real time)

I know I went subtle on it, I was trying to emulate Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman transformation (mixing it with some Sailor Moon)

I did this with *Dangerman-1973 in mind, I know he uses poser so hopefully he'll have fun with this. To download the animation for poser use click here: [link]

PS

Should I mark this as mature? She's just like a naked barbie doll so...

I love the animation. If I bet it would work well with Second Life. DAEZED works with SL. That'd be a great animation to have in Second Life at any rate.

Splendid work on the animation.

This may potentially work out very well for use with dynamic cloth...

Oh that might look cool, if you do something with it let me know ok.

I have already ran several cloth simulations...

I still have to work out the kinks, though. There are some parts in the resulting simulation that went haywire...

Impressive!

I totally suck when it comes to animations in poser 5...but if you give me a photo, I can recreate every single pose!

Well another way to do animations in Poser is to create the keyframes as poses. Actually I think that's the best way to do the animations. Since you create the poses first if you decide to fiddle with them while creating the animation you can always go back to the original if you don't like how it turned out.

Just remember, not everything moves at the same time and speed. If you leave it to the computer to fill between keyframes it will look odd at the end. Takes some getting used to and a powerful machine (which I don't have)

Tried that numerous times but failed.

Well I'm not an expert but if I can help, tell me what you're doing and what you're getting after you've done the poses.
It might be the inverse kinematics or wrong placement of keyframes.

Since Poser is a bit expensive, you might want to try DAZ3D Studio first. It's free and pretty easy to work with. Uses some of the stuff made for poser (I think everything but some morphs).

Go here [link]

While you are there, get everything they have for free to get you started. After you get the hang of it use their coupon. If I'm not mistaken they will give you a 30% coupon for 30 days when you register.
Btw, registration is free. You can become a platinum member which has a low monthly fee and gets you even lower prices. (on some stuff, not all but still worth it if you want more than a couple of things) There are other sites that work in a similar fashion. Just google them and have fun.

cool! i've been playing with poser animation a little too.

it's not easy

i've been working on a runway catwalk kind of thing. i also want a twirl.

i'm starting to work with v4 who promises to be easy to animate than aiko.

nicely done

Zairyo In reply to unreal-blue [2007-09-02 01:40:08 +0000 UTC]

V4 looks amazing, I haven't work much with her though. I wish there was a way to kinda have a temp folder or something to save your keyframes as poses while you animate so that when you're done you could choose to keep them or delete the whole thing and only keep the animation. I know you can do it but not the easy way I'm talking about (lazy I know)

But that's the best way to animate, to just make every keyframe into a pose, if you made a mistake you can apply the pose again and no harm done. I confess I haven't tried it yet

Thanks for the comments

the biggest thing i have is detail work. for instance, the figure does not know about gravity or momentum, so you have to add those in. the figure doesn't really know about other objects (like the floor), so again, you have to add those details.

That is a very nice, natural animation!! I am so impressed with your first!

When will you take commissions? *waggles brows* Aerik needs movement... *grins*

Soon, I need to set up prices and such though for animation I doubt a set price would work since it'll vary on the complexity of it.

Thanks for the interest.

BTW if you haven't seen the free stuff DAZ3D currently has to offer I was about to post a comment on ~poseraddicts so I have the links at hand.

le sigh! I actually tried DAZ some time ago... for some reason, my computer coughed at it. I'm sure it's really my fault, but I couldn't get it to work properly and I even paid for some clothes and poses and stuff! AND my comp did funky things with the programs.... have no idea how. So now I must simply envy those who can do these cool things and maybe try again when I get a new computer in Taiwan.

But I have wanted Aerik animated for YEARS... YEARS I tell you! And a very specific animation. Maybe Chalyss, too, maybe Whitefyre. I have this whole 'show opening' in my noggin but that's not what I would ask for! Can you imagine 30 whole seconds of animation? EEK! What I want would be about as long as what you have done already, maybe shorter.

Anyway, let me know when you get the prices down!! No BG needed for Aerik.

SUPER cool stuff!!!

I know what you mean, I've been dying to make a music video since I heard a song that fits the story I had in mind so perfectly that I would think it was just meant to be. Then again it might be just a genre thing. Gothic Metal is quite fitting for a world of Magic, betrayal and sacrifice. But if I'm going to do that I need to do some animatics first just to keep the time frame in mind.

Good. Speaking as an animation graduate, I would tweak the ending so that there's a little follow-through action. It does not look right that she can stop and hit that pose on a dime especially after that spin.

Then add hair and stuff.

Zairyo In reply to CJShadorunner [2007-07-26 18:59:13 +0000 UTC]

I agree on that, it was a last minute thing 'cause I didn't plan ahead and I also didn't know how to work the keyframes in Poser. I pretty much worked it like I would with a 2D app, One thing is for sure though, Onion skins are needed, the paste into background crap doesn't help.

Thanks for the comment. I hope you come check my second animation whenever I do it. ^^

I barely remember the Spider Woman cartoon. I had to check on youtube, ran into a few CAW videos and I like those lol but finally found one that had the transformation. It still looks closer to Carter's Wonder Woman transformation if you ask me.

Thanks for the comment.

And yes, you probably should mark it as mature, just in case some retentive doucheball goes 'wah wah wah this has boobies oh my virgin eyes wah wah wah'

Just a thought.

Zairyo In reply to Steve-Yamagata [2007-07-26 18:42:07 +0000 UTC]

Took me longer than it should have 'cause I didn't plan ahead. Well it's impossible to plan ahead for something you haven't done before anyway. ^^
I used Poser 7.

The thing was, I made the animation more realistic but when I ran the movie it was too slow which made me cut some key frames. I had two options that would've made me spend even more time fixing it so I left it like you see it.
