Wow the background is so detailed! I especially like the addition of titling many of the books. Each character is very expressive as well, just like capturing a common moment between them.

I'm glad you had fun exploring this. It is a lot of fun making pictures like this that give people a lot to look at and imagine. I borrowed a few of those book titles form the library of Mr. Tumnus in "The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe"

I always appreciate when artists put in the time for that amount of detail, so glad you enjoy it! ^w^
Oh nice! I loved that movie, I really need to read the books at some point because C.S Lewis has some pretty great stuff. I really love all the Biblical parallels in his stories

I can almost imagine how this lab/greenhouse would smell inside. Why are the organ jars there? I forgot the name of them, but the animal headed jars used for preserving the organs during mummification. If I'm not mistaken.

Coffee is one of the last people who should be given her own personal evil minion.

Nice! -- It's a crowded image, but you can still feel the space surrounding the figures (I've often noticed that with complex pics like this, the sense of depth is often lost amid all of the detail -- You've preserved it very well here).
So I see a lot of orchids and carnivorous plants -- a special interest of Ya'sameen's?

Orchids and carnivorous plants are some of my favorite to grow so I tend to sneak them in when I can. That book case has some interesting things in it.

Coffee seems to be wearing an SCP Foundation shirt. It's amazing how many details you can put into one of these scenes. How big are the sheets you use to draw these pieces?

Coffee and Afan are associated with a group very similar to the SCP foundation. This drawings like almost all my others is actually really small. It's on a 8/11 piece of copy paper.

She’s an alchemist (the genet)? Like in the Elric Brothers sort of way from Fullmetal Alchemist?

She is a midwife as a profession but uses the plants she grows for that practice as well. She likes to work on her own private experiments to try and find more rational explanations to some of the more extraordinary or magical properties of certain plants. The border between magic and science is very grey in her field of study.

Only isolated episodes, I'm really more familiar with the actual alchemy traditions, symbols, and texts. I've actually collected a lot of old books on the subject.

The manga does draw from those traditions (homunculi, using elements, etc). What kinds of books have you collected?

I've got lots of books by Theophrastus Paracelsus, they are interesting but kind of silly. "Natural Law in the Spiritual World" by Henry Drummond, is one of my favorite, he was a big influence of Carl Jung. If you are more interested in botanical alchemy Manfred M. Junius, has some great guide books. If you want to dig deeper into the roots of this sort of topic I have and would recommend the "Zohar","Sefer Yetzirah", and "Sefer HaBahir" are good but get a bit technical and ponderous. Those are a few of my favorite.
